Kanen (singer)
Kanen is the stage name of Karen Pinette-Fontaine (born January 5, 1999), an Innu people, Innu singer-songwriter from Uashat-Maliotenam, Quebec. She is most noted as a Felix Award nominee for Felix Award for Indigenous Artist of the Year, Indigenous Artist of the Year at the 43rd Félix Awards. Pinette-Fontaine launched her musical career as a member of Florent Vollant's Nikamu Mamuitun collective in 2019, alongside Marcie Michaud-Gagnon, Joëlle St-Pierre, Chloé Lacasse, Scott-Pien Picard, Matiu (musician), Matiu, Cédrik St-Onge and Ivan Boivin, and released her self-titled debut EP that year. She competed in the 2020 edition of the Francouvertes music competition. Uashat
Uashat is an Indian reserve in Quebec, located adjacent to the city of Sept-Îles. Together with Maliotenam some distance away, it forms the Innu community of Uashat-Maliotenam Innu Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam is an Innu First Nations band government in Quebec, Canada. Sonia Bonspille Boileau
Sonia Boileau is a Canadian First Nations filmmaker belonging to the Mohawk Nation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Biography Sonia Bonspille-Boileau was raised between Oka, where her French-Canadian father hails from, and Kanesatake, the community of her Mohawk mother. Her 2010 film, ''Last Call Indian'', focuses on her personal connections to her Kanesatake, government intervention into Indigenous life, and her family's ties to the Shingwauk Indian Residential School. Boileau is bilingual, and has created, directed, and produced works in both English and French. Education Bonspille-Boileau has received an extensive and well-rounded education in multiple facets of creative performance and film production.
