Kandukur Assembly constituency is a constituency of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, India. It is one of eight constituencies in the Nellore district. It is part of the Nellore Lok Sabha constituency along with another six Vidhan Sabha segments: Kavali, Atmakur, Kovuru, Nellore City, Nellore Rural and Udayagiri in the Nellore district. The constituency covers 5 Mandals including Municipality(Town) Gudluru, Lingasamudram, Kandukur, Ulavapadu, Voletivaripalem and Kandukur Municipality. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly or Andhra Pradesh Śāsana Sabha is the lower house of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. The Legislative Assembly consists of 175 members which are elected by adult universal suffrage under the first-past-the-post system. The duration of the Assembly is five years from the date appointed for its first meeting, unless it is decided to dissolve the Assembly sooner. The Legislative Assembly's main functions include legislation, overseeing of administration, passing the budget, and airing public grievances. The 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on 11 April 2019 for constituting the fifteenth Legislative Assembly in the state. They were held alongside the 2019 Indian general election. The YSR Congress Party won the election in a landslide, winning 151 of the 175 seats, with the incumbent Telugu Desam Party winning just 23. The Jana Sena Party entered the legislature with one seat, while the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party failed to win any seats. The fourth United Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections were held in 1967. Out of a total of 1,067 candidates, 276 men and eleven women were elected. In the 1989 United Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Indian National Congress swept the polls, winning 181 of the 294 seats in the Assembly.
