Kanako Inuki
is a Japanese manga writer and illustrator. Inuki was born in Hokkaidō and moved to Tokyo as a young girl. Starting out with an interest in manga she began to draw and write for horror manga. Her first published work was the short story ''Orusuban'' in 1987, which was published in a special edition of the shōjo manga magazine ''Shōjo Friend'' which was compiled by Kazuo Umezu. She was then a part of the 1990s boom in the horror genre in the Japanese manga market, becoming one of the leading authors and publishing in magazines like ''Mystery House'', ''Suspiria'' and '' Suspense & Horror''. Her work is characterized by a rich style of terror, influenced by folklore, tradition and the moralising ironic humor. She has been called the "Queen of the Horror Manga". Shōjo Friend
was a shōjo manga magazine formerly published by Kodansha, beginning in 1962. Kodansha used the knowledge gained from publishing magazines aimed at young girls, including ''Nakayoshi'' and '' Shōjo Club'', as well as the experience from publishing ''Weekly Shonen Magazine''. ''Shōjo Friend'' is considered the successor to ''Shōjo Club''. In 1963, Shueisha began publishing '' Margaret'', and the two magazines became fierce competitors. Shogakukan entered the market competition in 1968 with ''Shōjo Comic''. During this time, popular series such as '' Haikara-san ga Tōru'' (by Waki Yamato) and ''Seito Shokun!'' Kazuo Umezu
is a Japanese manga artist, musician and actor. He is among the most famous authors of horror manga and has been vital for its development since the 1960s. Life Umezu was born in Kōya, Wakayama Prefecture, but raised in the mountainous Gojō, Nara Prefecture. His mother motivated him to draw when he was seven years old. His father would tell him local legends about ghost and snake women before going to bed. He was inspired to start drawing manga by reading Osamu Tezuka's ''Shin Takarajima'' in fifth grade. He was part of a drawing circle with others called "Kaiman Club". In 1955, he published his first manga at the age of 18 with ''Mori no Kyōdai'' based on the fairytale Hansel and Gretel with the kashihon publisher Tomo Book. Plot Two married neurosurgeons, Etsuko and Yukio Ōta, watch a 16mm documentary film concerning a secret experiment involving the electrification of the temporal lobes of several Japanese, Manchu, and Russian subjects, ending with said subjects projecting a blinding white light.
