Kamnan Poh
Somchai Khunpluem, alternatively spelled Kunplome ( th, สมชาย คุณปลื้ม; 30 September 1937 – 17 June 2019), was a Thai politician, businessman and organized crime boss. He was also known by the nickname ''"Kamnan Poh"'' ( th, กำนันเป๊าะ, " subdistrict headman Poh"). Highly influential in his home province of Chonburi and the whole eastern region, he was dubbed "godfather of Chonburi" or "godfather of the east" by Thai media. Somchai was long-term mayor of Saen Suk, Mueang Chonburi District. Life, business, and political career Somchai was born as the son of a village headman, the second of eight siblings. He dropped out of school after grade four and started working as a teenager. He began as a restaurant bus boy before starting his own bus service. Kamnan
A kamnan ( th, กำนัน) is a Thai governing official at the tambon (subdistrict) level. It is usually translated as "subdistrict headman". The position of a kamnan was introduced with the ''Thesaphiban'' administrative reforms near the end of the 19th century, first enacted in 1892. The kamnan would to be chosen from the among village elders (phu yai ban) of the villages that make up the tambon. Originally, it was a lifetime post, but now is for a fixed term. The kamnan's main task was to implement the policies of the higher administrative levels, and he was the main point of government contact for the people of the tambon. With the ''Tambon Council and Tambon Administrative Authority Act BE 2537'' (1994), the tambon assumed a role in local policy making. Under the 1997 constitution, Tambon Administrative Organizations (TAO) were created as new local administrative units. The lifetime appointment also was replaced by a five-year term of office. Phalang Chon Party
The Phalang Chon Party ( th, พรรคพลังชล, Phak Phalang Chon) is a political party in Thailand founded in 2011 based in Chonburi Province. The party's key figure is its "chief adviser" Sontaya Kunplome, former minister of tourism under Thaksin Shinawatra, who left the Bhumjaithai Party in 2011 to found the Phalang Chon Party. Formally, the party is chaired by Chao Maneewong. In the 2011 general election, the party won seven seats: one party-list seat and six constituencies. All of the seats won, represent Chonburi Province, Sontaya's home province and Phalang Chon's only stronghold. After the elections, the Phalang Chon Party agreed to participate in a five-party coalition government, dominated by the Pheu Thai Party and led by Yingluck Shinawatra. Wittaya Khunpluem ( th, วิทยา คุณปลื้ม) was born on June 27, 1965, as an offspring of Somchai Khunpluem ("Kamnan Poh") and Satil Khunpluem. He is Thai politician.
