is a railway station on the Ōito Line in the village of Hakuba, Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Lines Kamishiro Station is served by the Ōito Line and is 55.2 kilometers from the starting point of the line at Matsumoto Station. Ōito Line
The is a railway line in Japan which connects Matsumoto Station in Nagano Prefecture with Itoigawa Station in Niigata Prefecture. There are two operators on the line: East Japan Railway Company (JR East) operates the section north of Minami-Otari Station in Otari, Nagano Prefecture, and West Japan Railway Company (JR West) operates the remaining section. Minami-Otari is the boundary for the two companies. The section of the line, operated by JR East, between Minami-Otari and Matsumoto is electrified and trains are fairly regular along this section. The JR West section from Minami-Otari to Itoigawa, however, is not electrified and is used very little, compared to the electrified JR East section. Trains run far less regularly along this part. Matsumoto Station
is a train station in the city of Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), and the private railway operator Alpico Kōtsū. Lines Matsumoto Station is served by the Shinonoi Line and is 13.3 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Shiojiri Station. It is also a terminal station for the Ōito Line. Chūō Main Line trains using the Shinonoi Line tracks also pass through Matsumoto. Matsumoto is also a terminus for the 14.4 kilometer private Kamikōchi Line operated by Alpico Kōtsū. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. A , sometimes abbreviated as , is a form of railway station in Japan which is operated by an entity other than the railway company using the station. These stations are commonly operated by the local municipality, an agricultural cooperative, a store in front of the station, or a private individual. Other than the entity operating the station, there is no difference to the passenger using the station. The station attendant generally sells passenger tickets through a ticket window and posts the train schedules, while the train conductor or driver handles collection and validation of tickets in most cases.
