Eugene Kamenka
Eugene Kamenka (4 March 1928 – 19 January 1994) was an Australian political philosopher and Marxist scholar. Biography Kamenka was born in Cologne in 1928 and migrated to Australia with his parents in 1937. He was educated at the Sydney Technical High School, and after interrupting his studies went to Jerusalem where he married his first wife Miriam Mizrachi and with her encouragement he returned to Sydney University to complete his degree and begin work on his later published thesis "The Ethical Foundations of Marxism" for the Australian national university, publ 1962. Professor John Anderson of Sydney University was a key influence in his early career. Kamenka lectured in philosophy at the University of Singapore where he met his second wife, Alice Tay and went on to lecture and research around Europe, North America, and Asia. 5385 Kamenka, provisional designation , is a background asteroid from the outer regions of the asteroid belt, approximately in diameter. It was discovered on 3 October 1975, by Soviet astronomer Lyudmila Chernykh at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Nauchnij, on the Crimean peninsula. The presumed C-type asteroid has a rotation period of 6.68 hours. It was named for the Ukrainian town of Kamianka. Orbit and classification ''Kamenka'' is a non-family asteroid from the main belt's background population. It orbits the Sun in the outer asteroid belt at a distance of 2.4–3.9  AU once every 5 years and 7 months (2,049 days; semi-major axis of 3.16 AU).
