Kaluu is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The character first appeared in the story "From the Nameless Nowhere Comes... Kaluu!" in ''Strange Tales'' #147 (Aug. 1966). The first five pages were written by Stan Lee, with Denny O'Neil writing the other half of the story (credited as "Our Vacationin' Sorcerer" and "Our Sorcerer's Apprentice", respectively), and Bill Everett provided all the art. Fictional character biography Kaluu was born over five hundred years ago in the mystic city of Kamar-Taj, a village in the Himalayan Mountains. He and the Ancient One became fellow students of the mystic arts. Varnae, the eldest of the true vampires, met with Kaluu and imparted to him knowledge from the primeval compendium of black magic known as the Darkhold. Kamar-Taj
Kamar-Taj is a fictional location appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. It first appeared in ''Strange Tales'' #110 (July 1963) and was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The name "Kamar-Taj" does not appear in early Lee/Ditko Doctor Strange stories, but was created later as the country's backstory was fleshed out. Description Kamar-Taj is "a hidden land high in the Himalayas" and the homeland of Doctor Strange's mentor, the Ancient One, and of the evil sorcerer Kaluu. Strange's majordomo Wong also stems from a family of monks living in Kamar-Taj. Over 500 years ago, the man who would one day become the Ancient One was born in Kamar-Taj. The Ancient One is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He was the mentor of Doctor Strange and was his predecessor as Sorcerer Supreme. The character was voiced by Michael Ansara in the 1978 television film '' Dr. Strange''. ''The Mighty Avengers'' is a comic book series that was published by Marvel Comics. Originally written by Brian Michael Bendis, also the writer of '' New Avengers'', the title first featured an officially sanctioned Avengers team of registered superheroes, residing in New York City as part of the Fifty State Initiative, as opposed to the unlicensed team featured in The New Avengers. This first incarnation of the team is led by Iron Man and Ms. Marvel, with the second lineup featuring Hank Pym as the leader, and the third led by Luke Cage and Monica Rambeau.
