Matthias Benedict Keah
Mathias Benedict Keah (29 September 1943 – 25 July 2005) was a Kenyan politician and the Member of Parliament for Kaloleni Constituency in the Coast Province from 1988 to 2001. During this period, he also served as an Assistant Minister in the Ministries of Finance, Land & Settlement and Transport & Communications respectively. Early life Keah was born on September 29, 1943, in Kizingo Village, Jibana Location in Kilifi District. He attended primary school in Kizingo after which joined St. Georges Secondary School for his Secondary Education. Thereafter, he joined Strathmore College. Constituencies of Kenya are used to elect members of the National Assembly, the lower chamber of the Kenyan Parliament. Tsangatsini
The Coast Province ( sw, Mkoa wa Pwani) of Kenya, along the Indian Ocean, was one of Kenya's eight provinces. It comprises the Indian Ocean coastal strip with the capital city at Mombasa and was inhabited by the Mijikenda and Swahili, among others. Rabai
Rabai, also called Rabai Mpya (New Rabai), is a historic location and Sub-Counties of Kenya, Sub-County in Kilifi County, Kenya about 12 miles northwest of the city of Mombasa. It is the first place in Kenya where missionaries of the Church Mission Society, Church Missionary Society (CMS) established a Christian mission. History Johann Ludwig Krapf came to Rabai in 1844 with his pregnant wife Rosine, whom he had married in Egypt. Shortly afterwards on 9 June 1844, his wife died of malaria. At the time of her death, Krapf was also taken ill and their newborn infant died 3 days later. They were buried at Rabai. In 1846 Krapf together with Johannes Rebmann set up a mission at Rabai. Dr. Krapf learnt the local languages and translated the bible into Swahili. Mariakani
Mariakani is a town in Kenya lying on the boundary of Kaloleni and Kinango districts (formerly Kilifi and Kwale respectively) in the old Coast Province of Kenya, 36 kilometres northwest of the port city of Mombasa. Administration during colonial period The administrative areas which make up Mariakani today were shared by the Durumas, Chonyi, Giriamas and Kambas. The British colonists considered it more prudent to administer the dominant ethnic groups separately. The Kilifi county side had a Giriama and Kamba Chief to take care of the interest of the two ethnic groups, whereas on the Kwale County side, i.e. the Mwavumbo area, was another pair of chiefs to represent the Duruma and Kamba people. The last of these chiefs were the late Chief Johnson Mwero Mwaiga from Matumbi and Ex-Senior Chief Nzana wa Mumo from Gwasheni.
