Kalksburg
Kalksburg () is a former municipality in Lower Austria that is now a part of the 23rd Viennese district Liesing. Today, the cadastral commune Atzgersdorf has got an area of 375,7 hectare. Etymology The name ''Kalksburg'' stems from the surname of the noble house ''Chalbsperger'' – at times, the village also used to be called ''Kalbsberg'', ''Kalksdorf'' and ''Kadoltsperg''. Geography Geologically speaking, the wooden and meadow area in the northwest of Kalksburg belong to the ''flysch zone'' while the one in the northeast belong to the Northern Limestone Alps. The area in between is counted among the geological era of Holocene. History *In 1188 the family of the „Chalbsberger“ was mentioned for the first time in a document. *In 1463 the castle of Kalksburg was destroyed by viennese citizens who were attacking it. *Between 1609 and 1773, the Jesuits owned the dominion. Kollegium Kalksburg
Kalksburg College, also known as College of the Immaculate Virgin, is a Catholic private school according to public law in the 23rd district of Liesing in Vienna, Austria. History The Mon Pérou Palace, built in the 18th century, was replaced by the collegiate edifice. It was the seat of Princess Carolina of Trautson, a court maid of Maria Theresa, and was acquired in 1791 by the court jeweler Franz von Mack, who made the existing landscape garden around the castle. The Jesuits purchased the castle in 1856 from August Godeffroy, the husband of a granddaughter Franz von Macks. The transaction was financially supported by Emperor Franz Joseph. The main building of the college was gradually and partly built on the foundation walls of the Mon Pérou Palace. On 3 October 1856, today's lower part of the building was consecrated by Cardinal Joseph Othmar von Rauscher of the Immaculate Conception, which had just been proclaimed a Roman Catholic faith dogma. Liesing () is the 23rd district of Vienna. It is on the southwest edge of Vienna, Austria. It was formed after Austria's ''Anschluss'' with Germany, when Vienna expanded from 21 districts to 26. Liesing was one of only two districts that remained in Vienna in the new organization. Manharter was a politico-religious sect which arose in Tyrol in the first half of the nineteenth century. History Founding The founder of Manharter was a Roman Catholic priest, Kaspar Benedict Hagleitner of Aschau, who was the only one of the clergymen of Brixenthal to refuse to take the oath of allegiance prescribed by Napoleon's edict of 30 May 1809, for the ecclesiastical and secular authorities of the province of Salzburg, of which Brixenthal was then a part. His notion was that priests who took this oath were by that act excommunicated jointly with Napoleon. It was not long before zealous supporters rallied to him from among Austrian sympathizers and patriots in the Brixenthal villages of Westendorf, Brixen im Thal, Hopfgarten, Itter, and from Unter-Innthal, principally in the villages of Wörgi and Kirchbichl.
