''Kako (ni)je propao rokenrol u Srbiji'' (trans. ''How Rock 'n' Roll in Serbia (Didn't) Came to an End'') is a book by Duško Antonić, published in 2021. The book features a number of Antonić's essays on Serbian rock scene, as well as a list of 100 best Serbian rock music albums published after the dissolution of SFR Yugoslavia. The list was formed according to the poll of 58 Serbian music journalists and critics, artists and others, similarly to the poll in the 1998 book '' YU 100: najbolji albumi jugoslovenske rok i pop muzike'' (trans. Goribor
Goribor ( sr-Cyrl, Горибор; trans. '' Burning bor'') is a Serbian alternative rock band from Bor. Having performed as a teenage band called Projekat ( sr-Cyrl, Пројекат; trans. ''The Project'') from 1988 until 1992, after a four-year hiatus, the band was reformed in 1996 by the founding members, the vocalist Aleksandar Stojković "St" and guitarist Željko Ljubić "Pity" with the guitarist Predrag Marković "Peđa". Until 2003 they had been making home-made demo recordings eventually released through the Croatian independent record label Slušaj Najglasnije!, after being discovered by the head of the label Zdenko Franjić. PGP-RTS ( sr, Produkcija gramofonskih ploča Radio televizije Srbije) is a major record label based in Belgrade, Serbia. It is a successor of PGP-RTB which was established in 1959 in Belgrade, then capital of Socialist Republic of Serbia and Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Đorđe Balašević
Đorđe Balašević ( sr-Cyrl, Ђорђе Балашевић; 11 May 1953 – 19 February 2021) was a Serbian and Yugoslav singer and songwriter, writer, poet and director. He began his career in the late 1970s as a member of the band Rani Mraz, transitioning after two albums to a solo career. He first gained mainstream prominence for writing Rani Mraz's hit "Računajte na nas" (Count on Us), which was often described as an anthem of a generation. Noted for his vivid lyricism and poetry, Balašević was also known for weaving political commentary into his songs and live performance. Broadly supportive of South Slavic unity in late 1970s and early 1980s, in the lead up to the Yugoslav wars he began to criticise the authorities. Jarboli ( sr-cyr, Јарболи; trans. '' The Masts'') is a Serbian alternative rock band from Belgrade. History 1990s The band was formed in 1991 by Daniel Kovač (guitar, vocals), Boris Mladenović (guitar, vocals), Žolt Kovač (bass guitar), and Nemanja Aćimović (drums) who, influenced by garage rock and punk rock, started to compose their own material and to perform in Belgrade clubs, mainly the club Bunker, Ljudmila Stratimirović fashion shows, and as a frequent opening act for Obojeni Program and Instant Karma. Ritam Nereda (Serbian Cyrillic: Ритам Нереда; trans. ''Rhythm of Disorder'') is a Serbian and Yugoslav oi!/ punk rock band from Novi Sad. History 1980s The band was formed in 1986, by Boban Petronić (bass guitar, vocals), who previously worked with Vrisak Generacije, Fritz (guitar), and Pavke ( drums), and having intensively rehearsed, they recorded their first demo recording, the song "Za Novi Sad" ("For Novi Sad"), the following year, at Pavke's Studio M. Due to the audience positive reactions to the recordings, the band, in an altered lineup, which featured Petronić (vocals), Četa (bass guitar), and P.J. Orthodox Celts
Orthodox Celts is a Serbian band formed in Belgrade in 1992 which plays Irish folk music combined with rock elements. Despite their uncharacteristic genre in their home country, the band is one of the top acts of the Serbian rock scene and has influenced several younger Serbian bands, most notably Irish Stew of Sindidun and Tir na n'Og. The band started their career performing traditional Irish songs and, gradually, introduced more and more of their own material (lyrics mostly written by the band's frontman Aleksandar "Aca Celtic" Petrović, music mostly written by band's violinist Ana Đokić). Sunshine (Serbian Band)
Sunshine are a Serbian rapcore/ hip hop band from Belgrade. History 1990s The band was formed in 1993 by the vocalist Branko Bojović "Bane", also known as Gumbrowski, who, having previously worked in the Novi Beograd band Green Cool Posse, formed Sunshine with vocalist Đorđe Radivojević, also known as Đole Ramirez. Recording several demo recordings in the early 1980s and being directly influenced by rap music, while spending two years living in the United States during the late 1980s, Bojović decided to present his own interpretation of the genre. Atheist Rap is a Serbian punk rock band from Novi Sad, formed in 1989, which has released six studio albums, one compilation album and one live DVD. Their music is often characterized as "fun punk" due to its cheerful music and vocals. Their lyrics are usually critical of society and politics and are often humorous accounts of everyday events. The Black Bomber
The Black Bomber ( sr, Црни бомбардер, Crni Bombarder) is a 1992 Yugoslavian drama film by Serbian director Darko Bajić. It takes place in Belgrade in a fictional authoritarian near-future, modeled closely on the conditions in Serbia at the beginning of the Yugoslav Wars. The film follows an anti-establishment radio host, Crni (Dragan Bjelogrlić) and the rock singer Luna ( Anica Dobra), his friend and lover.
