Kaiyo Hoshini
(born September 12, 1972 in Ginowan, Okinawa) is a Japanese former volleyball player who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics. Hoshino played for the NEC Red Rockets is a women's volleyball team based in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. It plays in V.League 1. The owner of the team is NEC. The club was founded in April 1978 as NEC's corporate team, participating the same year in the 10th V.Challenge League to ... from 1991 to 2000. She played as an outside hitter. In 1996, Hoshino was eliminated with the Japanese team in the preliminary round of the Olympic tournament. Ginowan, Okinawa
( ryu, ジノーン, translit=Jinōn) is a city located in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. As of 2012, the city has an estimated population of 94,405, with 40,041 households and a population density of 4,838.8 persons per km2. The total area is 19.51 km2. The city borders Chatan to the west, Okinawa City to the North, Urasoe to the south and Nishihara to the East. History Ginowan was heavily damaged during World War II. After the war, half of the area of the city was allocated for use by the United States military. A refugee camp was built in the Nodake area of Ginowan. The population of the refugee camp increased exponentially, and the area was renamed Nodake City. The American occupation forces abolished Nodake City in 1946, and renamed the area Ginowan Village. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The Japan women's national volleyball team (Hinotori Nippon, 火の鳥NIPPON), or ''All-Japan women's volleyball team'', is currently ranked 10th in the world by FIVB. The new head coach is Masayoshi Manabe. One of their greatest successes was at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, when they defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union on the way to the gold medal.
