The Kaihoata River, formerly known as the Kaiwhata River, is a river of the southern North Island of New Zealand. It rises in rough hill country to the southeast of Masterton, flowing southeast to reach the Pacific Ocean south of Riversdale Beach Riversdale Beach is a settlement in New Zealand. It is located on the sparsely populated southeast coast of the North Island, 40 kilometres east of Masterton. The North Island, also officially named Te Ika-a-Māui, is one of the two main islands of New Zealand, separated from the larger but much less populous South Island by the Cook Strait.
