Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik
Lieutenant General Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik (born 28 June 1953) is a retired general officer of the Indian Army who is serving as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. He is the first person from Maharashtra who take over as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command. Early life and military career Parnaik studied at the St. Aloysius Senior Secondary School, along with his brother A. T. Parnaik, also a lieutenant general, who retired as Director General Border Roads. Later He joined Sainik School, Rewa and National Defence Academy. He was commissioned into the 2nd Rajputana Rifles on 31 March 1972 from the Indian Military Academy. He attended the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He commanded the 2nd battalion, The Rajputana Rifles (2 RajRif) in the Rajasthan Sector and in Jammu and Kashmir. He also attended the Senior Command and the Higher Command Course. 17th Infantry Division (India)
The 17th Infantry Division is a formation of the Indian Army. During World War II, it had the distinction of being continually in combat during the three-year-long Burma Campaign (except for brief periods of refit). The division was re-raised in 1960 and 17 Mountain Division is presently located in Sikkim under XXXIII Corps. Indian Military Academy
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is one of the oldest military academies in India, and trains officers for the Indian Army. Located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, it was established in 1932 following a recommendation by a military committee set up under the chairmanship of General (later Field Marshal) Sir Philip Chetwode. From a class of 40 male cadets in 1932, IMA now has a sanctioned capacity of 1,650. Cadets undergo a training course varying between 3 and 16 months depending on entry criteria. On completion of the course at IMA cadets are permanently commissioned into the army as Lieutenants. The academy, spread over , houses the Chetwode Hall, Khetarpal Auditorium, Somnath Stadium, Salaria Aquatic Centre, Hoshiar Singh Gymnasium and other facilities that facilitate the training of cadets. National Defence Academy (India)
The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint Military, defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services i.e. the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academy for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 12 Ashoka Chakra (military decoration), Ashoka Chakra recipients. NDA has also produced 27 service Chiefs of Staff till date. Sainik School Rewa is one of the 28 Sainik Schools of India. It is a purely residential school for boys. The medium of instruction is English.
