Kaisma
Kaisma is a village in Põhja-Pärnumaa Parish, Pärnu County, Estonia. (retrieved 28 July 2021) It is located about north of Tootsi, south of Järvakandi, west of Vändra and east of Pärnu-Jaagupi boroughs. Kaisma has conglutinated with the neighbouring Kergu village. The nearest railway stations are in Kõnnu () and Viluvere (). As of the 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 116. Kaisma was first mentioned as ''Caysma'' in 1530. Kaisma Manor had existed already in 1601. The main building and distillery were destroyed during the Revolution of 1905. Geologist and botanist Carl Friedrich Schmidt (1832–1908) was born in the manor. Between 1991 and 2009, Kaisma was the administrative centre of Kaisma Parish, before it was merged into Vändra Parish. Vändra Parish was an Estonian municipality located in Pärnu County. It had a population of 2,861 (as of 1 December 2012) and covered an area of 642 km². Carl Friedrich Schmidt (1832)
Carl Friedrich Schmidt (russian: Фёдор Богданович Шмидт, Fyodor Bogdanovich Schmidt; also known as Friedrich Schmidt; in Kaisma, Livonia – in Saint Petersburg) was a Baltic German geologist and botanist in the Russian Empire. He is acknowledged as the founder of Estonian geology. In the mid-19th century, he researched Estonian oil shale, kukersite, and named it as kuckers. Main papers of Friedrich Schmidt research the stratigraphy and fauna of Lower Palaeozoic rocks in Estonia and the neighboring areas. In 1885 he became academician of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. He won the Wollaston Medal, awarded by the Geological Society of London, in 1902. Friedrich Schmidt was the first European to "discover" the Sakhalin Fir on the Russian island of Sakhalin in 1866, but he did not introduce it to Europe. Revolution Of 1905
The Russian Revolution of 1905,. also known as the First Russian Revolution,. occurred on 22 January 1905, and was a wave of mass political and social unrest that spread through vast areas of the Russian Empire. The mass unrest was directed against the Tsar, nobility, and ruling class. It included worker strikes, peasant unrest, and military mutinies. In response to the public pressure, Tsar Nicholas II enacted some constitutional reform (namely the October Manifesto). This took the form of establishing the State Duma, the multi-party system, and the Russian Constitution of 1906. Despite popular participation in the Duma, the parliament was unable to issue laws of its own, and frequently came into conflict with Nicholas.
