Kairos Communications
Kairos Communications is a not-for-profit media production and training company based in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland. It has produced programmes for multiple channels and other clients, and has its own studios. History Kairos was set up in 1983 by the Irish branch of the Society of the Divine Word, in Maynooth, Co. Kildare. Fr Michael Melvin SVD, was the founder of Kairos. ''Kairos'' was the name of a magazine produced by the Divine Word Missionaries for schools, in the 1970s and the Communications company grew out of that. Kairos started producing religious programming for RTE in the 1990s first when it produced the 'Prayer at Bedtime'. In 1990, the ''Karios Communications Institute'', commenced a one-year media course, this developed into a Diploma and Higher Diploma in Christian Communications and Media, accredited by Maynooth. Society Of The Divine Word
The Society of the Divine Word ( la, Societas Verbi Divini), abbreviated SVD and popularly called the Verbites or the Divine Word Missionaries, and sometimes the Steyler Missionaries, is a Catholic Church, Catholic clerical religious congregation of Pontifical Right for men. As of 2020, it consisted of 5,965 members composed of Presbyter, priests and religious brothers working in more than 70 countries, now part of VITA international. Maynooth
Maynooth (; ga, Maigh Nuad) is a university town in north County Kildare, Ireland. It is home to Maynooth University (part of the National University of Ireland and also known as the National University of Ireland, Maynooth) and St Patrick's College, a Pontifical University and Ireland's sole Roman Catholic seminary. Maynooth is also the seat of the Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference and holds the headquarters of Ireland's largest development charity, Trócaire. Mary McAleese
Mary Patricia McAleese ( ; ga, Máire Pádraigín Mhic Ghiolla Íosa; ; born 27 June 1951) is an Irish activist lawyer and former politician who served as the eighth president of Ireland from November 1997 to November 2011. She is an academic and author and holds a licentiate and doctorate in Canon law. McAleese was first elected as president in 1997, having received the nomination of Fianna Fáil. She succeeded Mary Robinson, making her the second female president of Ireland, and the first woman in the world to succeed another woman as president. The Angelus (television Programme)
''The Angelus'' is an Irish radio and television programme, first broadcast in 1950, of the sound of an Angelus bell ringing for one minute. On radio it is broadcast at 12pm and 6pm every day. On television, it is only broadcast at 6pm, immediately before the main evening news. Since 2009, the programme on television no longer includes Catholic imagery and the Angelus prayer itself is never broadcast. The bells were recorded at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, although initially broadcast live. Radio Éireann first broadcast ''The Angelus'' on 15 August 1950. St Patrick's Pontifical University, Maynooth ( ga, Coláiste Naoimh Phádraig, Maigh Nuad), is the "National Seminary for Ireland" (a Roman Catholic college), and a pontifical university, located in the town of Maynooth, from Dublin, Ireland.
