Kahramankazan (previously named Kazan) is a town and district of the Ankara Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, standing on the plain of Akıncı to the north west of the city of Ankara. According to 2010 census, population of the district is 39,537 of which 37,718 live in the town of Kahramankazan. The district covers an area of , and the average elevation is . History Archaeological research reveals the plain has a long past, going back to prehistoric times, and findings during the excavation of the Bitik Höyük mound date back to the copper age. The Kazan Soda Elektrik, full name Kazan Soda Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., is a chemical industry and electric energy company in Ankara Province, Turkey producing natural soda ash and baking soda from trona. The company' is a subsidiary of Ciner Holding. Background The trona ore deposits were owned by Rio Tinto Group, an Australian-British multinational and one of the world's largest metals and mining corporation. After survey activities, which lasted more than fifteen years, the company concluded that it will be not able to operate the mining of the trona ore reserves there, and sold the deposits to Ciner Holding in 2010. The construction of the soda products plant began in 2015, after five years of efforts for bureaucratic permissions and financing. The investment budget of the project was US$1.5 billion. Turkish Satellite Assembly, Integration And Test Center
Turkish Space Systems, Integration and Test Centre ( tr, Uzay Sistemleri, Entegrasyon ve Test Merkezi) (USET) is a spacecraft production and testing facility owned by the Ministry of National Defence and operated by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). It is located in Ankara, Turkey. The facility's official inauguration took place on May 21, 2015 in presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Considered as a critical infrastructure, the centre was established within the framework of the Göktürk-1 project, which started in 2009, for the indigenous realization of satellite assembly, as well as for qualification and acceptance testing from design to launch phase. It was the product of an agreement between the Turkish Ministry of National Defence and the multinational space services company Telespazio in 2010.
