Kagawa Prefectural Higashiyama Kaii Setouchi Art Museum ( ja, 香川県立東山魁夷せとうち美術館, Kagawa Kenritsu Higashiyama Kaii Setouchi Bijutsukan) is an art museum dedicated to Japanese painting master Kaii Higashiyama. The museum is located in the city of Sakaide, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, where Higashiyama's grandfather was born. The museum features 350 works by Higashiyama that were donated by his wife after he died. The museum was designed by famed architect Yoshio Taniguchi and opened in Sakaide in 2005. Yoshio Taniguchi (谷口 吉生, ''Taniguchi Yoshio''; born 1937) is a Japanese architect best known for his redesign of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, which was reopened November 20, 2004. Kaii Higashiyama
was a Japanese writer and artist particularly renowned for his Nihonga style paintings. As one of the most popular artists in post-war Japan, Higashiyama was awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize in 1956 and the Order of Culture in 1969. Biography Born in Yokohama to parents Kosuke and Higashiyama Kaii, he was given the first name Shinkichi but later changed this to Kaii. From age three to 18 he lived in Kobe where he attended Kobe Junior High School (presentlHyogo Prefectural High School. Great Seto Bridge
The is a series of double deck bridges connecting Okayama and Kagawa prefectures in Japan across a series of five small islands in the Seto Inland Sea. Built over the period 1978–88, it is one of the three routes of the Honshū–Shikoku Bridge Project connecting Honshū and Shikoku islands and the only one to carry rail traffic. is a junction railway station located in the city of Sakaide, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Shikoku and has the station number "Y08". Lines Sakaide Station is served by the JR Shikoku Yosan Line and is located 21.3 km from the beginning of the line at Takamatsu.
