Kafr Misr ( ar, كفر مصر, he, כַּפְר מִצְר; ''lit.'' "Egypt anvillage") is an Arab village in northeastern Israel. Located near Afula to the south of the Sea of Galilee, it falls under the jurisdiction of Bustan al-Marj Regional Council. In it had a population of . The site of Kafr Misr has been inhabited from at least the late Roman period, with archeological excavations indicating the existence of Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities, at various periods. The village's jurisdiction in 1924 was about 3,300 dunams, but today it is about 1,000 dunams. Name Karmon writes in 1960, referring to Conder and Kitchener's ''Memoirs'', that the name "Mebhel" registered by Jacotin in 1799 was replaced by "Kefr Misr" ('Egypt anvillage') after the site being settled by Egyptians during the decade under the rule of Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt (1831–1841).Karmon, 1960, p167 with note 24. Palestine Grid
The Palestine grid was the geographic coordinate system used by the Survey Department of Palestine. The system was chosen by the Survey Department of the Government of Palestine in 1922. The projection used was the Cassini-Soldner projection. The central meridian (the line of longitude along which there is no local distortion) was chosen as that passing through a marker on the hill of Mar Elias Monastery south of Jerusalem. The false origin (zero point) of the grid was placed 100 km to the south and west of the Ali el-Muntar hill that overlooks Gaza city. The unit length for the grid was the kilometre; the British units were not even considered. At the time the grid was established, there was no intention of mapping the lower reaches of the Negev Desert, but this did not remain true.
