Kaem Ling
''Kaem Ling'' ('monkey cheeks') ( th, แก้มลิง) is a flood control measure based on the vision of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. The idea stems from his observation that monkeys store bananas in their cheeks, conserving them to eat later. He applied this concept to the problem of flooding in Bangkok. Storing excess water in north Thailand would slows its progress towards Bangkok and allow it to be used when rainfall slackened. Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park ( th, อุทยาน 100 ปี จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย) is a park located on the campus of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. It was completed in 2017 to honor the 100th anniversary of the university's founding. Kotchakorn Voraakhom ( th, กชกร วรอาคม, born 1978) is a Thai landscape architect and chief executive officer of Porous City Network, a social enterprise that looks to increase urban resilience in Southeast Asia. She is also the founder of the Koungkuey Design Initiative, which works with communities to rebuild public spaces. She campaigns for more green space in cities and is a 2018 TED fellow. Education Voraakhom loved the flooding in Thailand as a child. She studied at Chulalongkorn University. She earned her bachelor's degree in landscape architecture in 2001, when she was awarded a medal for exceptional academic performance. She completed her graduate studies at Harvard University. Water (chemical formula ) is an inorganic, transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, which is the main constituent of Earth's hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms (in which it acts as a solvent).
