Kachemak Selo
Kachemak Selo (Russian: Качемак Село) is a small unincorporated community in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, United States. Located on the Kenai Peninsula, it lies roughly 30 miles east of Homer. The community is one of several settlements of Russian Old Believers in the Fox River area. There are about 160 residents. Kenai Peninsula Borough is a borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,799, up from 55,400 in 2010. The Kenai Peninsula ( Dena'ina: ''Yaghenen'') is a large peninsula jutting from the coast of Southcentral Alaska. The name Kenai (, ) is derived from the word "Kenaitze" or "Kenaitze Indian Tribe", the name of the Native Athabascan Alaskan tribe, the Kahtnuht’ana Dena’ina ("People along the Kahtnu (Kenai River)"), who historically inhabited the area. Homer, Alaska
Homer ( Dena'ina: ''Tuggeght'') is a city in Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is southwest of Anchorage. According to the 2020 Census, the population is 5,522, up from 5,003 in 2010. Long known as the "Halibut Fishing Capital of the World", Homer is also nicknamed "the end of the road", and more recently, "the cosmic hamlet by the sea". Fox River is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, United States. At the 2010 census the population was 685, up from 616 in 2000. It was first reported by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1895. The Fox River, which flows by the CDP, might have been named for Theodore Fox, a local mining magnate. Geography Fox River is located on the western side of the Kenai Peninsula at (59.847372, -150.926178). It is at the head of Kachemak Bay, where the Fox River enters it. The CDP extends north from the bay to high ground north of Caribou Lake. It is bordered to the southwest by Falls Creek, which separates the community from the Fritz Creek CDP. Voznesenka, Alaska
Voznesenka (Russian: ''Вознесенка'', ) is a small unincorporated community in the Kenai Peninsula Borough 23 miles northeast of Homer, Alaska, United States. Brief overlook Located on the Kenai Peninsula, about east of Homer, Voznesenka is one of several villages founded by Russian Old Believers in the Fox River area. The village was founded in 1985 by residents who decided to leave Nikolaevsk and begin new settlements in the Kachemak Bay area. The name in Russian means ''Ascension'' (вознестись, voznestis' – to ascend) referring to the holiday of the Ascension. The village is situated on a bluff over Kachemak Bay, and is at the end of the maintained road system on the western Kenai Peninsula.
