KZRZ (98.3 FM, "Sunny 98.3") is an adult contemporary formatted radio station broadcasting in the Monroe, Louisiana, radio market. It is owned by Stephens Media Group, through licensee SMG-Monroe, LLC. The station began broadcasting February 29, 1968, as KUZN-FM, owned with KUZN (1310 AM). KXRR (106.1 FM, "Rock 106") is a mainstream rock-formatted radio station in Monroe, Louisiana, United States. It is owned by Stephens Media Group through licensee SMG-Monroe, LLC. Studios are located in Monroe, and its transmitter is located near Sterlington, Louisiana. History Monroe Broadcasters, Inc., filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to build a new FM radio station in Monroe on November 24, 1964. The FCC granted approval for the station on June 29, 1965, and KREB began broadcasting on January 28, 1966. Two months later, the station set its format as country music. The fledgling station was sold less than two years later to Twin City Broadcasters, which was owned by Jimmy L. and Lehlia H. Terry, in exchange for assumption of liabilities. Stephens Media Group is an Oklahoma based radio broadcaster that owns 75 radio stations particularly in small to mid-size markets. Its flagship stations are at its headquarters in Tulsa. Stephens refers to itself as "A portfolio of People", referencing the team members who work for the company. KMBS is a radio station airing a talk format licensed to West Monroe, Louisiana, broadcasting on 1310 kHz AM. The station serves the Monroe, Louisiana area, and is owned by Red Bear Broadcasting Corporation. History KUZN signed on the air August 4, 1956. The 1,000-watt, daytime-only station was owned by Howard E. Griffith and broadcast primarily country and gospel music. KUZN moved to new quarters on Parkwood Drive in 1967, when Griffith launched a television station, KUZN-TV channel 39. An expansion into FM radio followed the next year with KUZN-FM 98.3. West Monroe, Louisiana
West Monroe is a city in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is situated on the Ouachita River, across from the neighboring city of Monroe. The two cities are often referred to as the Twin Cities of northeast Louisiana. Its population was 13,065 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area.
