KZIZ (1560 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Pacific, Washington and serving the Seattle- Tacoma media market. It carries a South Asian radio format known as "Radio Punjab," with affiliated stations in San Francisco, Sacramento and other West Coast markets. The station is owned by Charanjit Singh Batth, through licensee Akal Media, Inc. By day, KZIZ broadcasts at 5,000 watts non-directional. But at night, because AM 1560 is a clear-channel frequency reserved for Class A stations KNZR Bakersfield, California, and WFME New York City, it reduces power to 900 watts, using a directional antenna. On July 20, 2016 KZIZ was granted a Federal Communications Commission construction permit to increase day power to 10,000 watts, increase night power to 2,500 watts and decrease critical hours power to 2,500 watts. KKDZ
KKDZ (1250 AM) is a radio station in Seattle, Washington, licensed to operate with 5,000 watts full-time. It was first licensed in April 1922 as KTW, and is one of the oldest in the United States. History KTW The station received its first license, with the randomly issued call letters of KTW, on April 22, 1922. The original licensee was the First Presbyterian Church of Seattle, located at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Spring Street. Construction was credited to "J. D. Ross, superintendent of the City Light Department, and James G. Priestly of the city chemist's department". Originally a 250-watt station, its debut broadcasts were made on May 14, 1922 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. One of the station's purposes was to provide religious services to twenty-two outlying mission houses and chapels that didn't have their own ministers. Pacific is a city in King and Pierce counties in the State of Washington. Located primarily in King County, the population was 7,235 at the 2020 census. History Pacific was platted on April 10, 1906, by real estate promoter Clarence Dayton Hillman as "C.D. Hillman's Pacific City Addition to the City of Seattle". The development would take advantage of the nearby Puget Sound Electric Railway, which provided connections to Seattle and Tacoma. It was officially incorporated as a town on August 10, 1909. Sumner is a city in northern Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 10,621 at the 2020 census. Nearby cities include Puyallup to the west, Auburn to the north, and Bonney Lake to the east. History Sumner was founded in 1853 as Stuck Junction and platted in 1883 by George H. Ryan, in anticipation of a stop on the Northern Pacific Railway. The town was named "Franklin" until 1891, when the Post Office Department requested that the name be changed to avoid confusion with similarly named towns. WFME (1560 kHz) is a non-commercial educational, religious-formatted AM radio station licensed to New York, New York, broadcasting at 1,000 watts, under a special temporary authority (STA). The station is owned and operated by Family Radio, a Christian radio ministry based in Nashville, Tennessee. On February 15, 2021, at 11:16 AM, WFME went temporarily silent following the sale of the station's Maspeth, Queens transmitter site by Family Radio for future redevelopment.
