KXPR
KXPR (88.9 FM) is a classical music-formatted radio station in the Sacramento, California, area. The station is closely linked to sister-station KXJZ (90.9 FM), and the two stations are known as Capital Public Radio (now CapRadio). Both stations are owned by Sacramento State and share studio operations on campus, and KXPR's transmitter is located in Walnut Grove. In 2006 the stations swapped signals to their current configuration. The swap marked a return of sorts to KXPR's roots; in 1979, the station had originally signed in at 88.9 FM before moving to 90.9 in 1984. KXPR carries programming from NPR, and also has locally produced features as well as classical music shows. Although KXPR does have a HD Radio channel, it has yet to sign on a HD2 or HD3 subcarrier. KXJZ (90.9 FM) is a public radio station in Sacramento, California. It airs programming from National Public Radio (NPR) and other public radio producers and distributors, as well as locally produced news and public affairs programs. It also offers a continuous 24-hour commercial-free classical music radio format on its HD2 subcarrier. KXJZ's sister station in Sacramento is KXPR (88.9 FM), which broadcasts classical music and a few non-classical programs at the weekend. The two stations are known as CapRadio (formerly Capital Public Radio). Both stations are owned by Sacramento State and share studio operations on campus, and KXJZ's transmitter is located near Rio Linda. KXJZ operates on the older of the two frequencies, which had been established in 1964 as KERS, a student-run station at Sacramento State. CapRadio (Capital Public Radio) is the public radio service of California State University, Sacramento. It consists of two full-power stations and five repeaters, all members of National Public Radio. It is the NPR member for Sacramento and much of the surrounding area, including Stockton and Modesto. The group is headquartered on Folsom Boulevard on the Sacramento State campus. Stations KXJZ (90.9 FM) in Sacramento airs news and talk programming from NPR, as well as jazz and blues programming on weekends. KXJZ's programming is repeated on KUOP in Stockton at 91.3 FM, KKTO in Tahoe City at 90.5 FM, and KQNC in Quincy at 88.1 FM. KKTO's signal also reaches Reno and Carson City, Nevada, giving much of northern Nevada a second choice for NPR programming alongside that area's flagship station, KUNR. Founded in 1947 as Sacramento State College, it is the eleventh oldest school in the 23-campus California State University system. Ellen Kushner
Ellen Kushner (born October 6, 1955) is an American writer of fantasy novels. From 1996 until 2010, she was the host of the radio program '' Sound & Spirit'', produced by WGBH in Boston and distributed by Public Radio International. Background and personal life Kushner was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Bryn Mawr College and graduated from Barnard College. She lives in New York City with her wife and sometime collaborator, Delia Sherman. They held a wedding in 1996 and were legally married in Boston in 2004. Kushner identifies as bisexual. ''A Prairie Home Companion'' is a weekly radio variety show created and hosted by Garrison Keillor that aired live from 1974 to 2016. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) is an American organization dedicated to the performance and promotion of chamber music in New York City.
