KWCE-LP
KWCE-LP (channel 27) is a defunct low-power analog television station in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States, which operated from 2000 to 2021. In its latter years, it was owned by Cox Media Group as an affiliate of MeTV; it had common ownership with ABC affiliate KLAX-TV (channel 31). KWCE-LP's operations were last housed at KLAX-TV's studios on England Drive/ LA 498 in Alexandria; the station's transmitter was located on Bayou Maria Road in Pineville. KWCE-LP did not broadcast a digital signal of its own, and there were no plans to convert the station's signal to digital. In addition, the analog station's low-power signal contour was limited to the immediate Alexandria area. Therefore, in order to reach the entire market, KWCE-LP was simulcast in widescreen standard definition on KLAX-TV's second digital subchannel, which eventually became its permanent over-the-air conduit. KLAX-TV
KLAX-TV (channel 31) is a television station in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with ABC and owned by Imagicomm Communications. The station's studios are located on England Drive/ LA 498 in Alexandria, and its transmitter is located in the Kisatchie National Forest southwest of Dry Prong. History Plans for KLAX began in late 1979 when Jim Richards, who owned KSYL radio, formed Cypress Communications with the intent on launching a new television station on one of the two available commercial UHF stations (channel 31 or 41). Although the station planned to sign on in 1981 as an ABC affiliate, there were numerous delays with ordering proper equipment, and ABC originally rejected KLAX's affiliation. KBCA (channel 41) is a television station in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with the digital multicast network Heroes & Icons. The station is owned by Wilderness Communications, and broadcasts from a transmitter in Oakdale, Louisiana. History Early history In early 2004, rumors had been spreading in the Alexandria market of a possible new television station to be launched. Local media insiders believed White Knight Broadcasting, then owners of Fox affiliate WNTZ (channel 48) was negotiating the purchase of the new channel with plans of moving the Fox affiliation to it.
