KVOA (channel 4) is a television station in Tucson, Arizona, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Entertainment Studios, Allen Media Broadcasting. The station's studios are located on West Elm Street north of downtown Tucson, and its primary transmitter is located atop Mount Bigelow (Arizona), Mount Bigelow, northeast of the city, supplemented by Broadcast relay station#Broadcast translators, translators in the Tucson Mountains and in Sierra Vista, Arizona, Sierra Vista. KTAR (620 AM) is a radio station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. Owned and operated by Bonneville International, it currently is a sports radio station airing network programming from ESPN Radio. The studios are located in north Phoenix near Piestewa Peak, and the station broadcasts with 5,000 watts from a transmitter site near the corner of 36th Street and Thomas Road. KTAR was established in 1922 as KFAD, owned by the McArthur brothers, and became one of just two stations in Phoenix (alongside KOY) from the early 1920s through 1940. KIKX was a radio station on 580 kHz in Tucson, Arizona, which operated from April 10, 1947, until closing on July 18, 1982. The station lost its FCC license due to a 1974 kidnapping hoax involving one of the station's disc jockeys. History As KCNA and KTAN The Catalina Broadcasting Corporation signed on KCNA at 1340 kHz on April 10, 1947.
