KVLR (92.5 FM broadcasting, FM) is a radio station licensed to Sunset Valley, Texas (Austin, Texas) and is owned by Educational Media Foundation. It is the Austin affiliate for EMF's Air 1 radio, airing a Christian Worship format. The station also has two translators at 92.1 FM Austin, Texas, Austin and 92.9 FM Del Valle, Texas, Del Valle. History The station started in the early '90s as KKLB ("Club 92") with a contemporary Spanish format. In the early 2000s, KKLB switched to Spanish Oldies as La Lupe 92.5 FM, but kept the KKLB calls. On February 23, 2007, the call letters were changed from KKLB to KXXS as part of a format switch to Latin pop, Spanish pop-formatted "Digital 92.5". "La Lupe" moved to AM broadcasting, AM 1560 KXTZ. KFMK
KFMK (105.9 FM) is an Austin, Texas radio station operating a Contemporary Christian format as an affiliate of the K-Love radio network. It is licensed to Round Rock, Texas with an ERP of 4,500 watts from a transmitter site near West Lake Hills, and is currently owned by Educational Media Foundation. Station history As "Jammin 105.9" KFMK was launched on November 25, 1998 as the Rhythmic Oldies-formatted "Jammin' 105.9", after initial signal testing and stunting as alternative rocker "The Planet 105.9", which began on July 7 of that year. From the inception it played mostly R&B, Classic Soul, Motown, and Disco from the 1960s and 1970s only. In 2003, the station gradually added more songs from the 1980s and 1990s to the playlist, while at the same time having the 60s and 70s R&B in heavy rotation. KUTX (98.9 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Leander, Texas and serving the greater Austin, Texas area with an Adult album alternative format. The station is owned by University of Texas at Austin with headquarters at the Belo Center for New Media (A0704) on the University of Texas at Austin campus. History 98.9 signed on in 1988 at 99.1 FM as KLTD, "Kool 99 FM" with the Satellite Music Network's "Kool Gold" format by Adams Broadcasting, which eventually spun off the Kool Gold format to Dial Global. On July 3, 1993, KLTD changed calls to KUTZ and format to hard rock as part of the Satellite Music Network-Z Rock Network. Sunset Valley is a city in Travis County, Texas. The population was 749 at the time of the 2010 census. An enclave, it is surrounded on all sides by the city of Austin. Air1 is an American Christian radio, Christian radio network. Owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), it primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History In 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian Hit/Rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KLXD, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD. It is owned by iHeartMedia, and carries a Sports radio, sports radio format with both local sports shows and programming from Fox Sports Radio.
