KUPL (98.7 FM) is a commercial radio station in Portland, Oregon. The station is owned by Alpha Media and airs a country music radio format, known as "98.7 The Bull." History KPOJ-FM/KPOK-FM On June 6, 1948, the station signed on as KPOJ-FM at 98.7 MHz. It was owned and operated by ''The Oregon Journal''. It was powered at 44,000 watts and mostly simulcast co-owned AM 1330 KPOJ, a network affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting System and the Don Lee Network. KUFO (970 Hertz, kHz) is a commercial radio, commercial AM broadcasting, AM radio station city of license, licensed to Portland, Oregon. The station, owned by Alpha Media, calls itself "Freedom 970" and airs a talk radio, talk radio format. KUFO's offices and studios are on Southwest 5th Avenue in Portland. KKPZ (1330 AM, "The Truth") was a radio station broadcasting a religious radio format. Licensed to Portland, Oregon, United States, it served the greater Portland metro area. The station was owned by KPHP Radio, Inc. (Crawford Broadcasting Company), located in Happy Valley, Oregon. History The station was first licensed, as KTBR on 1140 kHz, on September 21, 1925 to Brown's Radio Shop at 172 Tenth Street in Portland. In 1932, the station (then broadcasting on 1330 kHz with 500 watts of power) was purchased by the management of KOIN, and the call letters were changed to KALE. A story in a trade publication noted that KALE "will broadcast CBS sustaining features which KOIN cannot handle." ''The Oregon Journal'' was Portland, Oregon's daily afternoon newspaper from 1902 to 1982. The ''Journal'' was founded in Portland by C. S. "Sam" Jackson, publisher of Pendleton, Oregon's ''East Oregonian'' newspaper, after a group of Portlanders convinced Jackson to help in the reorganization of the ''Portland Evening Journal.'' KXTG (750 AM, "The Game") is a sports radio station in Portland, Oregon. Its transmitter is located in Damascus, while studios are in downtown Portland. It is owned by Alpha Media, a company owned by veteran radio executive Larry Wilson. Programmimg KXTG is Portland's flagship home to the March Madness, the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer, and the Seattle Mariners. It also served as home of the Portland Steel of the Arena Football League in 2016. The Bald Faced Truth with host John Canzano airs weekdays on KXTG. Canzano's show was the inaugural sports program on the station and remains on air today. The Bald Faced Truth launched The Game's sports programming on May 12, 2008. Tualatin Mountains
The Tualatin Mountains (also known as the West Hills or Southwest Hills of Portland) are a range on the western border of Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. Downtown Portland is the city center of Portland, Oregon, United States. It is on the west bank of the Willamette River in the northeastern corner of the southwest section of the city and where most of the city's high-rise buildings are found.
