KTMT (580 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a sports format. Licensed to Ashland, Oregon, US, the station serves the greater Medford-Ashland area. The station, originally established in 1946, is currently owned by Stephens Media Group, through licensee SMG-Medford, LLC. History The station was launched in 1946 as KWIN on a frequency of 1400 kHz, broadcasting with 250 watts of power. In 1962, the station shifted to the 580 kHz frequency and upgraded to 1,000 watts of broadcast power. In 1972, the station changed its callsign to KCMX. On January 1, 1999, the station changed its call sign to KTMT. On January 31, 2008, the station changed its call sign to KGAY, and had a Regional Mexican format. Ashland, Oregon
Ashland is a city in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. It lies along Interstate 5 approximately 16 miles (26 km) north of the California border and near the south end of the Rogue Valley. The city's population was 21,360 at the 2020 census. The city is the home of Southern Oregon University (SOU) and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF). Cascade Christian High School is a private Christian high school in Medford, Oregon, United States. History Cascade Christian High School was founded in 1977 by Grace Christian Schools, a ministry of the First Baptist Church, and was housed at the historic Jacksonville School building for over ten years. Crater High School is a public high school in Central Point, Oregon, United States. Small School Initiative Beginning in the 2007-2008 school year, a program called the Small School Initiative was established in Crater after a monetary grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Meyer Memorial Trust. It divided the Crater campus into four smaller, autonomous schools, each with its own principal and staff members. Ashland High School (AHS) is a public high school in Ashland, Oregon, United States, near the Southern Oregon University campus. History Fire On June 3, 2006 at 2:30 pm, a fire broke out in the AHS room behind the gym during a farewell assembly for the seniors. Students and teachers were evacuated. The gym was heavily damaged and Mountain Avenue was closed for hours. No one was hurt during the fire. The fire department determined that the fire had been started by two students with firework sparklers. Homecoming The homecoming dance on September 25, 2015 was the first school dance at AHS to feature gender-neutral "homecoming royalty". The change was initiated by student body presidents and approved by the principal at the time, Michelle Zundel. South Medford High School is a public high school in Medford, Oregon, United States. History The South Medford campus was originally built in 1931 as Medford High School. Then in the 1960s, the school was divided between two campuses. Medford High became Medford Mid High, serving grades 9 and 10, with grades 11 and 12 going to a newly constructed campus, known as Medford Senior High, which is the current North Medford High School campus. This system was primarily used to allow Medford's football team to compete against schools in large cities such as Portland. North Medford High School is a public high school in Medford, Oregon, United States. It is part of Medford School District, and its nickname is the Black Tornado. The school enrolls 1,750 students. History Originally the City of Medford had a single high school, Medford High School, constructed in the 1920s. In the 1960s, the school district expanded, constructing a new high school on the opposite side of the city. Rather than develop this into an independent school, the district kept Medford High School as the lone school, with students attending at the two different locations. KDRV (channel 12) is a television station in Medford, Oregon, United States, affiliated with ABC. The station is owned by Allen Media Broadcasting, and maintains studios on Knutson Avenue (near Rogue Valley International–Medford Airport) in north Medford; its transmitter is located at the edge of Wolf Creek Park in rural northeastern Josephine County (near Golden).
