KTIS-FM (98.5 FM) is a contemporary Christian music formatted radio station located in Minneapolis, Minnesota owned and operated by Northwestern Media, a ministry of the University of Northwestern - St. Paul. The station's studios are located on Snelling Avenue in Roseville (which is next to St. Paul), while its transmitter is located on the KMSP Tower in Shoreview. KTIS is a non-profit radio station, receiving most of its donations and contributions from its listeners. Northwestern Media
Northwestern Media is the Christian radio ministry of the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, an evangelical university in Roseville, Minnesota. Northwestern Media operates two radio networks serving listeners primarily in the Midwestern United States: the Life Network, a contemporary Christian music station, and the Faith Network with Christian talk and teaching programming. History Northwestern Schools, as it was then known, entered the broadcasting business with the launch of KTIS-AM- FM in the Twin Cities on February 7, 1949. KMSP Tower
The KMSP Tower is a high aerial guyed mast used for the transmission of FM radio and over-the-air television in Shoreview, Minnesota. The structure was apparently the tallest in Minnesota until the construction of the KPXM Tower in 1997. The tower, which was built in 1971, is owned by KMSP ("Fox 9") parent Fox Television Stations but is shared by several area broadcasters; sister station WFTC ("Fox 9+") and the Twin Cities Public Television stations, KTCA and KTCI. HD Radio
HD Radio (HDR) is a trademark for an in-band on-channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcast technology. It generally simulcasts an existing analog radio station in digital format with less noise and with additional text information. HD Radio is used primarily by AM and FM radio stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a few implementations outside North America. The term "on channel" is a misnomer because the system actually broadcasts on the ordinarily unused channels adjacent to an existing radio station's allocation. Roseville is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. It is one of two Twin Cities suburbs that are adjacent to both Saint Paul and Minneapolis (the other is Lauderdale). The land comprising Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, and southern Roseville was unincorporated until Roseville incorporated in 1948 and Falcon Heights and Lauderdale incorporated in 1949.
