KTAR (AM)
KTAR (620 AM) is a radio station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. Owned and operated by Bonneville International, it currently is a sports radio station airing network programming from ESPN Radio. The studios are located in north Phoenix near Piestewa Peak, and the station broadcasts with 5,000 watts from a transmitter site near the corner of 36th Street and Thomas Road. KTAR was established in 1922 as KFAD, owned by the McArthur brothers, and became one of just two stations in Phoenix (alongside KOY) from the early 1920s through 1940. It was purchased by ''The Arizona Republican'' (soon renamed the ''Arizona Republic'') in 1929 and adopted its present call sign in January 1930 as part of a major overhaul. From the 1930s for several decades, KTAR was the key NBC radio affiliate in the state. KTAR-FM (92.3 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Glendale, Arizona, and serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is owned by Salt Lake City–based Bonneville International, a profit-making division of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. KTAR-FM broadcasts a News/Talk radio format. Its studios and offices are on North 16th Street near Piestewa Peak. In the Phoenix radio market, KTAR-FM and KFYI 550 AM owned by iHeartMedia, compete for talk radio listeners. KFYI mostly carries nationally syndicated conservative talk hosts while most weekday hours on KTAR-FM are local. The weekday schedule begins with "Arizona's Morning News," followed by "The Mike Broomhead Show." The syndicated " Dave Ramsey Show" is heard in middays, followed by "Gaydos & Chad," then "Arizona's Evening News." KPNX
KPNX (channel 12) is a television station licensed to Mesa, Arizona, United States, serving the Phoenix area as an affiliate of NBC. The station is owned by Tegna Inc., and maintains studios at the Republic Media building on Van Buren Street in downtown Phoenix (which also houses formerly co-owned newspaper ''The Arizona Republic''); its transmitter is located atop South Mountain on the city's south side. KPNX is also broadcast on satellite station KNAZ-TV (channel 2) in Flagstaff, which formerly was a separate NBC affiliate, and a network of low-power translators across northern and central Arizona. Channel 12 was the second TV station on the air in the Phoenix area, starting in 1953.
