KQKL (FM)
KQKL (95.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve the community of Keokuk, Iowa. The station was owned by Dana Withers' Withers Broadcasting Companies, through licensee Withers Broadcasting Company of Iowa, LLC, until April 14, 2016, until it was sold to Educational Media Foundation. Originally KIMI, the station was assigned the KOKX-FM call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on January 16, 1984 The station changed its call sign to KQKL to September 12, 2019. Format In February 2010, KOKX-FM split away from Citadel Media Networks' "Greatest Mojo" network, formerly known as Classic Hits Radio, and Oldies Radio before that. Keokuk, Iowa
Keokuk is a city in and a county seat of Lee County, Iowa, United States, along with Fort Madison. It is Iowa's southernmost city. The population was 9,900 at the time of the 2020 census. The city is named after the Sauk chief Keokuk, who is thought to be buried in Rand Park. It is in the extreme southeast corner of Iowa, where the Des Moines River meets the Mississippi. It is at the junction of U.S. Routes 61, 136 and 218. Just across the rivers are the towns of Hamilton and Warsaw, Illinois, and Alexandria, Missouri. FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM). Invented in 1933 by American engineer Edwin Armstrong, wide-band FM is used worldwide to provide high fidelity sound over broadcast radio.
