KOFIC Location Incentive
The KOFIC Location Incentive program, launched in 2011 by Korean Film Council (KOFIC), covers a part of the expenses of "foreign feature films, television series and documentaries" shot in South Korea. KOFIC grants up to 30% cash rebate on “foreign audio-visual works production expenditure incurred for goods and services in Korea”. The grant amount is subject to change depending on the numbers of days taken to shoot the film and the remaining grant program budget as of the date of application. Korean Film Council
The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) () is a state-supported, self-administered organization under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea. History KOFIC was launched in 1973 as the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Corporation (KMPPC). It changed its name to Korean Film Commission in 1999, to be set up as a self-regulating body that could institute film policy without requiring the ratification of the Ministry of Culture. It changed its name once more to Korean Film Council in 2004 to avoid confusion with local film commissions that provide support for location shooting. Roles KOFIC is composed of nine commissioners, including one full-time chairman and 8 committee members appointed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in order to discuss and decide on the main policies related to Korean films. Soft Power
In politics (and particularly in international politics), soft power is the ability to co-opt rather than coerce (contrast hard power). In other words, soft power involves shaping the preferences of others through appeal and attraction. A defining feature of soft power is that it is non-coercive; the currency of soft power includes culture, political values, and foreign policies. In 2012, Joseph Nye of Harvard University explained that with soft power, "the best propaganda is not propaganda", further explaining that during the Information Age, "credibility is the scarcest resource".
