KWDP (820 AM) is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Waldport, Oregon, United States. The station, which began broadcasting in 1988, is currently owned by David J. Miller and the broadcast license is held by Yaquina Bay Communications, Inc. The station, which had been temporarily dark for financial reasons, returned to the air simulcasting KBCH (1400 AM, Lincoln City, Oregon) in May 2011. Programming This station long broadcast an easy listening music format under the "KORC" call sign until the station fell silent on April 1, 2009, due to "financial difficulties". After a sale to new owners was consummated in January 2010, KORC returned to the air with a classic rock music format branded as "The Crab" on March 10, 2010. Newport, Oregon
Newport is a city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. It was incorporated in 1882, though the name dates back to the establishment of a post office in 1868. Newport was named for Newport, Rhode Island. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 9,989, an increase of nearly 5% over its 2000 population; as of 2019, it had an estimated population of 10,853. The area was originally home to the Yacona tribe, whose history can be traced back at least 3000 years. White settlers began homesteading the area in 1864. The town was named by Sam Case, who also became the first postmaster. Newport has been the county seat of Lincoln County since 1952, when voters approved a measure to move the center of government from nearby Toledo to Newport. KNCU (92.7 FM, "U92") is a radio station licensed to serve Newport, Oregon, United States. The station is owned by Yaquina Bay Communications and the broadcast license is held by Pacific West Broadcasting, Inc. History This station received its original construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on April 16, 1998. The new station was assigned the KBGX call sign by the FCC on July 17, 1998. KBGX received its license to cover from the FCC on May 30, 2000. The station applied for new call letters and was assigned KNCU by the FCC on August 30, 2000. In October 2000, Yaquina Bay Communications, Inc., reached an agreement to sell this station to Pacific West Broadcasting, Inc.
