KMPT (930 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve East Missoula, Montana. The station is owned by Townsquare Media. It airs a talk radio format. History KYSS signed on the air June 27, 1959. Treasure State Broadcasting signed the station on after having acquired the construction permit, briefly known as KDOO, in 1958. KYSS-FM was started by the station in 1969. Prior to acquiring the new call sign, KMPT was known as KLCY. The station changed to its current call letters on January 1, 2008. Ownership In October 2007, a deal was reached for the station (then known as KLCY) to be acquired by GAP Broadcasting II LLC (Erik Hellum, president) from Clear Channel Communications as part of a 57 station deal with a total reported sale price of $74.78 million. KYSS-FM
KYSS-FM (94.9 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Missoula, Montana, airing a country music format. The station is also one of two Country outlets in Missoula competing for listeners, the other being KGGL. Despite the "KISS" sounding call letters and it having once been owned by Clear Channel Communications, it has no relation to the Top 40 branding. It also shares the same Buck Owens-trademarked red, white & blue guitar logo as KNIX-FM/Phoenix, Arizona. History KYSS-FM came to air May 11, 1969. It was owned by the Garden City Broadcasting Corporation alongside KYSS (930 AM, now KMPT) and broadcast a beautiful music format on 100.1 MHz. KGRZ (1450 AM, "Griz Sports 1450 and 92.7") is a radio station licensed to serve Missoula, Montana, United States. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and licensed to Townsquare License, LLC. It airs a sports format. KGRZ is Missoula's second-oldest operating radio station, having gone on the air as KXLL in 1948. Gap Broadcasting Group was a group of companies that owned around 116 broadcast stations (including 1 low-power television station and 5 low-power stations) in 23 radio markets in northwestern and central southern United States in the late 2000s. KGVO (1290 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to serve Missoula, Montana. The station is owned by Townsquare Media. It airs a news/talk format. The station was assigned the KGVO call letters by the Federal Radio Commission on March 17, 1931. On May 6, 1932, the FRC authorized KGVO to move from 1420 kHz to 1200 kHz and to change to unlimited operation rather than its previous 10 a.m.-6 p.m. schedule. At that time, KGVO had 100 watts power. KGVO has been the flagship station of Montana Grizzlies football and men's basketball for decades; it frequently brands itself as "Home of the Grizzlies."
