KLEB
KLEB (1600 AM "The Rajun' Cajun") is a radio station in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, broadcasting a mix of swamp pop and traditional cajun music. In September 2019, it began to simulcast on K274DE 102.7 MHz, which broadcasts from the KLRZ tower facilities in Larose and allows the station's listening audience to choose between AM or FM. History KLEB was originally owned by the Egle family of Golden Meadow at its inception on August 16, 1963. The original owner was John A. Egle,; his brother Dick served as Lafourche Parish president in the 1980s. The Egles also owned FM station KZZQ in Galliano, which was automated. In the 1980s, KLEB was owned by the Harold Callais family of Golden Meadow who also owned the local cable company. During its life under Callais Cablevision, programming was mainly country music. WTIX-FM is an oldies outlet serving the New Orleans area. The station is owned by Michael A. "Michael In The Morning" Costello (under the name Fleur de Lis Broadcasting) and operates at 94.3 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW. Its city of license is Galliano, Louisiana. Its studios are in Metairie and its transmitter is located near Port Sulphur, Louisiana. History Costello was program director at WRNO-FM from 1976 to 1991 and also hosted the morning show as "Michael In The Morning" (M&M). Additionally, he hosted the Sunday night edition of ''The Rock 'N'Roll Hall Of Fame''. He then acquired the former KLEB-FM from the Harold Callais family which was a country music outlet in 1995 and flipped it to its current oldies format. KLRZ
KLRZ is a sports radio station. Licensed to Larose, Louisiana, KLRZ targets both New Orleans and the Tri-Parishes area at 100.3 MHz with an ERP of 89 kW at . The station, which signed on the air in 1992, is now owned by Coastal Broadcasting Of Larose. In July 2005, Citadel Broadcasting entered into a $6,000,000 agreement to buy the station. However, after Hurricane Katrina, they had backed out of the purchase. In fact, a new tower had been built to put a better signal into New Orleans, and was turned on the week before Katrina hit. Speculation was that Citadel was going to either sign on a Rockin' Country format onto this signal (which eventually was put on 106.7) or move the format of 106.7 the End to 100.3. Golden Meadow french: Canal Yankee is a town along Bayou Lafourche in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,761 in 2020. It is part of the Houma– Bayou Cane–Thibodaux metropolitan statistical area. Its main source of revenue is the oil and gas industry. The fishing and seafood industries also have strong economic impacts, with charter fishing, restaurants, and lodging actively serving patrons. The town was once known as a speed trap, but it has since been bypassed by Hwy 3235 and city traffic has been reduced to mostly locals; however, the speed limit is reduced to 50 mph on Hwy 3235 and said highway is still patrolled heavily. As in other places in Louisiana, there is a noticeable presence of Cajun culture, music, and cuisine. Lafourche Parish, Louisiana
Lafourche Parish (french: Paroisse de la Fourche) is a parish located in the south of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat is Thibodaux. The parish was formed in 1807. It was originally the northern part of Lafourche Interior Parish, which consisted of the present parishes of Lafourche and Terrebonne. Lafourche Parish was named after the Bayou Lafourche. City buildings have been featured in television and movies, such as in ''Fletch Lives'', due to its architecture and rich history. At the 2020 census, its population was 97,557. Long a center of sugar cane plantations and sugar production, in November 1887 the parish was the site of the Thibodaux Massacre. Galliano is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) on the Bayou Lafourche in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States. As of 2020, its population was 7,100. It is part of the Houma– Bayou Cane–Thibodaux metropolitan statistical area. Larose is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 6,763 in 2020. It is part of the Houma– Bayou Cane–Thibodaux metropolitan statistical area. Geography Larose is located in south-central Lafourche Parish at (29.567328, -90.376074). It is bordered to the southeast by the community of Cut Off. Bayou Lafourche and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway intersect in the center of Larose.
