KHNR (690 AM) is a conservative talk radio station serving Honolulu, Hawaii. The Salem Communications outlet broadcasts with a power level of 10,000 watts. Its studios are in Honolulu's Kalihi district, and its transmitter is in the Kakaako neighborhood. History KHNR's history at 690 AM can be traced back to its early days as the original home of Top 40 KKUA during the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s. They later moved their Top 40 format to KQMQ-FM and switched to adult contemporary, only to have both stations simulcast the Top 40 from 1987 until October 13, 1999, when the AM became the Hawaii affiliate for Radio Disney, picking up the call letters of former Top 40 rival KORL on April 26, 2002. KHCM-FM
KHCM-FM (97.5 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is owned by the Salem Media Group and airs a country music radio format. The studios and offices are in Honolulu's Kalihi district. KHCM-FM carries ''Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40'' on Saturdays. KHCM-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 80,000 watts. The transmitter is in the Ala Moana neighborhood atop the Ala Moana Hotel, on Atkinson Drive. History KPOI-FM went on the air in 1962 as the third FM station in the state, a companion to KPOI 1380 AM (today KLHT at 1040). In 1974, KPOI-FM became KHSS. It changed its call sign to KDUK in 1979. By 1983 the station flipped formats to active rock and returned to the KPOI call letters, in honor of the former Top 40 AM sister station. In 1993 KPOI evolved to Modern rock as "97.5 The Edge." Kalihi
Kalihi is a neighborhood of Honolulu on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, United States. Split by the Likelike Highway (Route 63), it is flanked by downtown Honolulu to the east and Mapunapuna, Moanalua and Salt Lake to the west. Kalihi is the name of the '' ahupuaʻa'' (ancient land division) between Kahauiki and Kapālama in the Kona (now Honolulu) district of O'ahu. The ahupua'a consists of Kalihi Uka, Kalihi Waena and Kalihi Kai. Historically, Kalihi Kai was the site of the former Leprosy Receiving Station, where those suspected of leprosy were examined prior to treatment or being sent to Kalaupapa on the island of Molokaʻi. Kalihi was also known for its fishponds, ʻĀpili, Pahouiki, Pahounui, ʻAuiki, and Ananoho, near the present Sand Island Access Road (Route 64) all of which have since been filled in. Country Music

Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence. KQMQ-FM (93.1 MHz) is a radio station based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Pacific Media Group outlet broadcasts with an ERP of 100 kW. The station also transmits on Spectrum digital channel 868 for the entire state of Hawaii. It offers a proprietary blend of Hawaiian/Island Reggae and traditional Reggae music format branded as "HI93". The programming is led by local radio vet Kelsey Yogi. The station's studios are located in Downtown Honolulu and its transmitter is located near Akupu. History The station, which signed on the air on October 1, 1967, originally was an AOR outlet in its early days after it was acquired from Cecil Heftel and began broadcasting "album cut" music around 1976.
