KGLI (95.5 FM; "KG95") is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format. The station serves Sioux City, Iowa, United States, and is owned by iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel Communications). History The station signed on the air in 1974 as KBCM. In 1983 the station became KGLI with a Top 40 (CHR) format as "KG95". KSEZ primarily competes with Powell Broadcasting's KKMA "Classic Rock 99.5". History Edwin C. Wolff of Sioux City filed on August 13, 1960, for a construction permit to build a new FM radio station in Sioux City. Wolff announced that his sons, John and Daniel, would be heavily involved in the new station's operation; John ran a hi-fi radio store and was a symphony concertmaster in town. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted the application on October 5, less than two months later, and KDVR began broadcasting on February 6, 1961. Originally operating with 3,000 watts, the station upgraded to 38,000 watts in 1964. In 1973, Stuart Enterprises, owner of KMNS (620 AM), purchased KDVR from Wolff. Sioux City () is a city in Woodbury and Plymouth counties in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 85,797 in the 2020 census, making it the fourth-largest city in Iowa. Delilah Rene (born February 15, 1960, in North Bend, Oregon) is an American radio personality, author, and songwriter, best known as the host of a nationally syndicated nightly U.S. radio song request and dedication program, with an estimated 8 million listeners. She first aired in the Seattle market as Delilah Rene, though she is now known simply as Delilah. Early life In 1969, Delilah's family moved from Coos Bay, Oregon, to neighboring Reedsport, where she attended school. In 1974, she won a middle-school speech contest judged by owners of the local AM radio station. Delilah began her radio career there, at KDUN in Reedsport, doing school reports. She soon was creating advertising spots and then was given her own time slot during shifts before and after school. After graduating from high school in 1978, she worked at numerous stations in Oregon and in Seattle before creating the format she became known for at KLSY in 1984.
