KEOL (91.7 FM broadcasting, FM) was a radio station broadcasting from Eastern Oregon University (EOU) in La Grande, Oregon. KEOL operated at 91.7 MHz with an operating power of 310 watts. Programming on the station, operated primarily by EOU students, was generally freeform rock. History KEOL was conceived in early 1967, when two employees of what was then known as Eastern Oregon College envisioned a campus FM radio station offering classical and jazz music—genres not readily available on local radio at that time. La Grande, Oregon
La Grande is a city in Union County, Oregon, United States. Originally named "Brownsville," it was forced to change its name because that name was being used for a city in Linn County. Located in the Grande Ronde Valley, the city's name comes from an early French settler, Charles Dause, who often used the phrase "La Grande" to describe the area's beauty. The population was 13,082 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Union County. La Grande lies east of the Blue Mountains and southeast of Pendleton. Eastern Oregon University
Eastern Oregon University (EOU) (officially designated as Oregon’s Rural University) is a public university in La Grande, Oregon. It was formerly part of the Oregon University System, since dissolved. EOU was founded in 1929 as a teacher’s college and today serves as a center for education, culture, and scholarship in rural areas of Oregon. The university offers bachelor's and master's degrees.
