KBXR 102.3 FM (often referred to simply as BXR) is a local radio station located on Old Highway 63 in Columbia, Missouri. It airs an Adult Album Alternative format with a mixture of alternative rock, classic rock, and more. Features 102-3 BXR interviews bands or singers playing in the city's various locations. These interviews are conducted "Live In Studio X." Past Studio X guests include Joe Strummer of The Clash, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Dave Matthews, Wilco, and Sheryl Crow (who attended the University of Missouri in Columbia). KFRU (1400 AM) is a radio station located in Columbia, Missouri. Its programming format consists primarily of news and talk. The station is licensed to Cumulus Media. The station is also audible on translator K255DJ 98.9 FM in Columbia. History KFRU was founded in Bristow, Oklahoma by E.H. Rollestone, in January 1925. That fall, the station was purchased by Stephens College and moved to Columbia (with Rollestone going on to found KVOO, now KTSB). The Blue Note is a music venue in Columbia, Missouri, and is a contributing property to the North Ninth Street Historic District. It was established in 1980 by Richard King and Phil Costello. It is famous for the legal case Bensusan Restaurant Corp. v. King over naming use on the internet. Big Head Todd and The Monsters are a rock band formed by Todd Mohr, Brian Nevin, and Rob Squires in 1986 in Colorado.
