KBC Band
KBC Band (also sometimes referred to as The Kantner Balin Casady Band) was formed in 1985 by former Jefferson Airplane (later Jefferson Starship) members Paul Kantner (guitar and vocals), Marty Balin (vocals and guitar) and Jack Casady ( bass). Other members included Keith Crossan (saxophone, guitar and vocals), Tim Gorman (keyboards and vocals), Slick Aguilar (guitar and vocals) and Darrell Verdusco (drums). Their sole LP, ''KBC Band'', featured the singles "America" and "It's Not You, It's Not Me." The band performed supporting tours from 1985 to 1987 before Kantner left for Nicaragua to investigate the Sandinista situation. The band did not perform after his return. Kantner said that Balin was becoming "difficult" near the end of KBC's existence. ''KBC Band'' is KBC Band's only album, featuring Paul Kantner, Marty Balin, and Jack Casady from Jefferson Airplane. The single "It's Not You, It's Not Me" was released shortly before the album's release. When originally released, the album cover was printed on both the outside and inside. In one vinyl release, the inside jacket of the album had a picture of a road with a car traveling on it with sign in the distance that said: "Life is a test. Had this been a real life, you would have been told where to go and what to do" — a satire of the message broadcast by the Emergency Broadcast System. John Michael Thomas (born December 3, 1949) is an American rock singer, best known as one of the lead vocalists of Jefferson Starship and Starship. Early life Thomas was born in Cairo, Georgia, on December 3, 1949. He was inspired to pursue a career in music after travelling to Atlanta with longtime childhood friends Charles Connell and Tommy Verran to see a Beatles performance in 1965. Thomas, Connell, and Verran formed their first band together; Verran was the lead vocalist. They disbanded while attending different colleges, but later reformed in the early 1970s along with friend Bud Thomas as the Jets. Thomas was the vocalist for the Lords of London, a garage band from Douglas, Georgia, for a brief time, along with guitarist Billy Folsom, bassist Bob Hutchinson, keyboardist Billy Corbi, and drummer Troy Blasingame. ''Windows of Heaven'' is Jefferson Starship's first studio album since reforming in 1992 and ninth album overall. It was first released in Germany, but the band told fans to wait for a new American remixed version. The single "Let Me Fly" was released along with the American release, but did not chart on the Billboard charts. Grace Slick joined the band in the studio to record vocals on "I'm on Fire" which only appears on the American and Japanese versions. Deep Space/Virgin Sky
Deep Space/Virgin Sky is a 1995 album by Jefferson Starship recorded live at the House of Blues in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. The concert was performed as a benefit memorial for violinist Papa John Creach, who had died in 1994, with proceeds going to his family. The original album rearranged the order of songs as performed and was divided into two parts with the first half featuring new material and the second half of the album featuring the classic hits of Jefferson Starship and Jefferson Airplane, including an appearance by Grace Slick performing vocals on "Law Man", " Wooden Ships", " Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit". It was the first time she had performed on stage since 1989. In 2003, the entire concert was released as a double CD entitled "Deeper Space / Extra Virgin Sky" with the original order of the performance restored. ''Jefferson Airplane'' is the eighth and final studio album by San Francisco rock band Jefferson Airplane, released on Epic Records in 1989. Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady all returned for the album and supporting tour, though Spencer Dryden did not participate. The album and accompanying tour would mark the last time Jefferson Airplane would perform together until their 1996 induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Jorma Kaukonen
Jorma Ludwik Kaukonen, Jr. (; ; born December 23, 1940) is an American blues, folk, and rock guitarist. Kaukonen performed with Jefferson Airplane and still performs regularly on tour with Hot Tuna, which started as a side project with bassist Jack Casady, and as of early 2019 has continued for 50 years. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine ranked him No. 54 on its list of 100 Greatest Guitarists. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Jefferson Airplane. Grace Slick
Grace Slick (born Grace Barnett Wing; October 30, 1939) is an American singer-songwriter, artist, and painter. Slick was a key figure in San Francisco's early psychedelic music scene in the mid-1960s. With a music career spanning four decades, she first performed with the Great Society, but is best known for her work with Jefferson Airplane and the subsequent successor bands Jefferson Starship and Starship. Slick and Jefferson Airplane first achieved fame with their 1967 album '' Surrealistic Pillow'', which included the top-ten ''Billboard'' hits "White Rabbit" and " Somebody to Love".
