K17MJ-D (channel 51) is a low-power television station San Antonio, Texas, United States, affiliated with beIN Sports Xtra and owned by HC2 Holdings. It is not yet available on Charter Spectrum. History This station began its broadcasts as K52EA in 1991 as an independent station. It picked up the Multimedios network in early 2006 and moved to channel 51 in December of that same year, changing its call sign to K51JF. In June 2013, K51JF was slated to be sold to Landover 5 LLC as part of a larger deal involving 51 other low-power television stations; the sale fell through in June 2016. The station was issued its license for digital broadcasting on channel 17 on August 29, 2017, changing its call sign to K17MJ-D. Mintz Broadcasting sold the station to HC2 Holdings in 2017. Canal 6 (alternately known as Multimedios Televisión) is a network of Spanish language television stations primarily concentrated in northeastern Mexico and the southwestern United States. The system is part of Grupo Multimedios. The flagship station of Multimedios is XHAW-TDT located in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Programming features locally produced news, sports, children's shows and general mass appeal variety programming. On weekdays, the network produces around twenty hours of live daily programming, with lesser amounts during the weekends and holidays. K25OB-D, virtual channel 27 (UHF digital channel 25), is a low-power, Class A NTD America- affiliated television station licensed to San Antonio, Texas, United States. The station is owned by HC2 Holdings. History On July 19, 1994, the FCC granted to Gonzalo A Santos a construction permit to build a low-power television station to serve the San Antonio, Texas area. The station was given the callsign K57GO, to operate on UHF channel 57. After two extensions of the construction permit, the latter resulting in the station's callsign being deleted, but later restored on approval, Santos sold the station to Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN) in September 1996. Once the sale was approved by the FCC in April 1997, 3ABN immediately applied for a license for the station, which was granted on June 20, 1997.
