Kuragano Station
is a railway station in the city of Takasaki, Gunma, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East), with a freight depot operated by the Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight). Lines Kuragano Station is a station on the Takasaki Line, and is located 70.3 km from the starting point of the line at . It is also a station on the Hachikō Line, lying 92.0 km from the starting point of the unelectrified northern section of the line at . Trains of the Shōnan–Shinjuku Line also stop at this station using the same tracks and platforms as the Takasaki Line. Station layout The station consists of two island platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station has a ''Midori no Madoguchi'' ticket office. The Shōnan–Shinjuku Line ( ja, 湘南新宿ライン, ) is a passenger railway service in Japan which commenced in December 2001. The line has no dedicated track as services run through shared sections along the Ryōmō Line, Takasaki Line, Utsunomiya Line, Yamanote freight line, Yokosuka Line, and Tōkaidō Main Line. Sengenyama Kofun
image from above is a Kofun period burial mound located in the Kuraganomachi neighborhood the city of Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture in the northern Kantō region of Japan. It was designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 1927. It is the second largest ''kofun'' in Gunma Prefecture after the Ōta Tenjinyama Kofun ( Ōta), and third in the Kantō region after the Ōta Tenjinyama Kofun and the Funazukayama Kofun (Ishioka, Ibaraki). It is estimated to have been built around the end of the 4th century and the beginning of the 5th century and is part of a group of 13 tumuli which were concentrated in the vicinity, forming the Kuragano kofun cluster. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Japan Freight Railway Company
, or , is one of the seven constituent companies of Japan Railways Group (JR Group). It provides transportation of cargo nationwide throughout Japan. Its headquarters are in Shibuya, Tokyo near Shinjuku Station. The Japan Railways Group was founded on 1 April 1987, when Japanese National Railways (JNR) was privatized. Japanese National Railways was divided into six regional passenger rail companies and a single freight railway company, Japan Freight Railway Company.
