Kulkuri Ja Joutsen
''The Swan and the Wanderer'' ( fi, Kulkuri ja joutsen) is a Finnish film telling the story of two very popular Finnish singer/songwriters, Tapio Rautavaara (Tapio Liinoja) and Reino Helismaa (Martti Suosalo), who worked together until their relationship got fractious for a long time. The film covers the years from 1949 to 1965, the date of Helismaa's death. The film also tells about the change in Finland during those years. Timo Koivusalo
Timo Johannes Koivusalo (born 31 October 1963) is a Finnish actor, director, writer, composer and musician. His most successful film to date was '' Rentun Ruusu'', released in 2001. Life and career Koivusalo was born in Pori, and trained as a chef and a mental nurse, before getting a breakthrough into the entertainment industry with his character Pekko Aikamiespoika, developed while he was working as a stand-up comedian. As Pekko Aikamiespoika, Koivusalo twice won the Finnish joketelling championships and made two comedy cassettes. In 1992, Koivusalo appeared in the TV series ''Pekko Aikamiespoika'', followed by a full-length movie the following year entitled ''Pekko Aikamiespojan poikamiesaika''. Toivo Pietari Johannes Kärki (; 3 December 1915 – 30 April 1992) was a Finnish composer, musician, music producer and arranger. He is especially remembered for his collaboration with Reino Helismaa. Kärki composed approximately 1400 recorded compositions, many of which had several versions, and wrote hundreds of unrecorded songs. He composed the music for about 50 films, several revues, theatrical plays, and radio comedies. He also arranged a large number of songs written by other people. He trained several of Finland's most important popular music lyricists. During his career, he helped dozens of singers get started in the industry, many of which remain active to this day. He made himself an important name in Finnish tango. Martti "Masa" Elis Niemi (20 July 1914 – 3 May 1960) was a Finnish actor. Career Niemi started his career as a drummer, but became popular as a comedian. He is most famous for his role as "Pätkä" (in English: Stub) in all thirteen original ''Pekka and Pätkä'' movies, with Esa Pakarinen as Pekka Puupää, Pätkä's best friend. Personal life Masa Niemi was only 154 cm tall (about 5 feet ½ inch), but he is said to have drunk at least a bottle and a half of Koskenkorva hard liquor every day. In addition to alcoholism, he also suffered from severe stage fright and disturbance of mental health. His alcoholism increased over time, and he eventually had to undergo rehabilitation. In 1960, he committed suicide in Tampere from an overdose of sleeping pills.
