Kryštofovo Údolí Astronomical Clock
The Kryštofovo Údolí astronomical clock is an astronomical clock in Kryštofovo Údolí, Czech Republic. It is built in a former electrical substation. The project started in 2006, it was inaugurated on 20 September 2008, and completed in 2011. The clock's construction was directed by Martin Chaloupka. Kryštofovo Údolí
Kryštofovo Údolí (german: Christofsgrund) is a municipality and village in Liberec District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants. The village is well preserved and is protected by law as a Cultural monument (Czech Republic)#Monument zones, village monument zone. Administrative parts The village of Novina is an administrative part of Kryštofovo Údolí. Etymology The name means "Kryštof's valley (Christopher's valley)". It was probably named after Kryštof of Donín (German: Christoph von Dohna), who owned the area and is one of the possible founders of the village. Lunar Phase
Concerning the lunar month of ~29.53 days as viewed from Earth, the lunar phase or Moon phase is the shape of the Moon's directly sunlit portion, which can be expressed quantitatively using areas or angles, or described qualitatively using the terminology of the 4 major phases: new moon, first quarter, full moon, last quarter and 4 minor phases: waxing crescent, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, and waning crescent. The lunar phases gradually change over a synodic month (~29.53 days) as the Moon's orbital positions around Earth and Earth around the Sun shift. The visible side of the Moon is variously sunlit, depending on the position of the Moon in its orbit. Thus, this face's sunlit portion can vary from 0% (at new moon) to 100% (at full moon).
