Vladimir Krpan
Vladimir Krpan () (born January 11, 1938) is a Croatian pianist and piano pedagogue. He was born in Sveti Ivan Zelina in 1938. He graduated at the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Svetislav Stancic and won a master's degree at the Santa Cecilia Music Academy in Rome with Carlo Zecchi. He also studied with Guido Agosti, Renzo Silvestri and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli in Rome, Arezzo, Siena, Bergamo and Lugano. He founded the piano department at the Music Academy in Skopje (North Macedonia) from 1971. He teaches at the Music Academy of the University in Zagreb where he raised a few generations of young pianists such as Pedja Muzijevic, Katarina Krpan, Srdjan Caldarovic, Lana Genc, Martina Filjak, Maksim Mrvica, Bruno Vlahek and many others. In his pedagogical work, he combines elements of Stancic's Zagreb Piano School and the heritage of the Italian school, especially Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli's. Petar Krpan
Petar Krpan (born 1 July 1974) is a Croatian retired footballer who played as a forward. Club career Born in Osijek, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Krpan started his career with local club NK Osijek. Due to the war breaking out in 1991, as a 17-year-old he engaged in battle to help save his hometown. He moved to Sporting Clube de Portugal in 1998, being scarcely used during his one-and-a-half-season spell. In January 2000, staying in Portugal, Krpan left for U.D. Leiria and played for the team until the summer of 2001, initially on loan. He then returned to Croatia and played one season apiece for Osijek, NK Zagreb and HNK Hajduk Split, before returning to Leiria for 2004–05; he was an important attacking element during the campaign as the latter team barely avoided relegation from the Primeira Liga, notably scoring in a 1–1 away draw against FC Porto. Martin Krpan is a fictional character created on the basis of the Inner Carniolan oral tradition by the 19th-century Slovene writer Fran Levstik in the short story ''Martin Krpan from Vrh pri Sveti Trojici'' ( sl, Martin Krpan z Vrha pri Sveti Trojici). Published in 1858 in the literary journal ''Slovenski glasnik'', the popularity of the story led to it becoming a part of Slovene folklore and made its lead character a folk hero.
