Krini (Greek: Κρήνη meaning "source", before 1955: Βοστίδι - ''Vostidi'') is a village in the municipal unit of Oichalia in the southeastern part of the Trikala regional unit, Greece. It is situated on the edge of the Thessalian Plain, 6 km northwest of Farkadona. Krini had a population of 733 in 2011. Thessaly ( el, Θεσσαλία, translit=Thessalía, ; ancient Thessalian: , ) is a traditional geographic and modern administrative region of Greece, comprising most of the ancient region of the same name. Farkadona ( el, Φαρκαδόνα, ; before 1955: Τσιότι, , ) is a municipality in the southeastern Trikala regional unit, part of Thessaly in Greece. In 2011 its population was 2,652 for the town and 13,396 for the municipality. It is located about halfway between the cities Larissa to the east, and Trikala to the west, at about 30 km from both. Oichalia el, Οιχαλία, before 1981: Νεοχώρι - ''Neochori'') is a town and a former municipality in the Trikala regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. Thessalian Plain
The Thessalian plain ( el, Θεσσαλική πεδιάδα, Θεσσαλικός κάμπος) is the dominant geographical feature of the Greek region of Thessaly. The plain is formed by the Pineios River and its tributaries and is surrounded by mountains: the Pindus mountain range to the west, which separates Thessaly from Epirus; Mount Othrys and its outliers in the south; Mount Pelion to the east; Mount Ossa and Mount Olympus to the northeast, with the pass of the Tempe Valley leading to Macedonia; and the Chasia and Kamvounia mountains to the north.
