Kovan Double Murders
The Kovan double murders was a double murder case that occurred on 10 July 2013 at 14J Hillside Drive, Singapore. The murders were committed in the home of one of the victims, 67-year-old Tan Boon Sin. The other is his 42-year-old son, Tan Chee Heong, whose body was dragged for 1 km, under a car driven by the killer before being dislodged outside Kovan MRT station. Iskandar bin Rahmat, a senior staff sergeant policeman, was arrested and tried for the murders, and was condemned to hang for the murders. Kovan, Singapore
Kovan () is a neighbourhood located within the town of Hougang, in the North-East Region of Singapore. The neighbourhood today largely consists of private housing properties, where majority of the residents live in terrace homes, semi-detached houses and bungalows. Geography As part of Hougang, Kovan is situated east of Serangoon, in the North-East Region of Singapore. As a relatively small suburb, Kovan's boundaries are relatively unclear. The Urban Redevelopment Authority defines its boundaries as Hougang Avenue 2 to the north, Yio Chu Kang Road to the west, southwest and south and Upper Serangoon Road to the east. Bedok Police Division
The Bedok Police Division (or 'G' Division) is one of the seven land division of the Singapore Police Force. Bedok Division covers approximately 114 square kilometres of the eastern sector of Singapore. The building became operational on 1 August 1987 when the former Joo Chiat Police Station at East Coast Road was closed down. Bedok Division initially comprised seven Neighbourhood Police Centres (NPC) and 16 Neighbourhood Police Posts (NPP). Sylvia Lim Swee Lian (; born 1965) is a Singaporean politician, lawyer, former police officer and lecturer who has been serving as Chairwoman of the Worker's Party since 2003. Ubi (Singapore)
Kampong Ubi, also known as Ubi Estate, is a subzone located in the planning area of Geylang in the Central Region of Singapore. It lies within a somewhat rhombic piece of land bounded by Airport Road at the north, the Pan-Island Expressway at the south, Eunos Link at the east and Paya Lebar Road at the west. The area was formerly a Malay village. Etymology and early history The Malay word ''Ubi'' refers to the tapioca plant. Malays used to grow small tapioca farms in the area.
