Cotter, cottier, cottar, or is the German or Scots term for a peasant farmer (formerly in the Scottish Highlands for example). Cotters occupied cottages and cultivated small land lots. Ernst Kötter was a German mathematician. Education Kötter graduated in 1884 from the University of Berlin under the supervision of Karl Weierstrass and Leopold Kronecker. Career Kötter's treatise ''"Fundamentals of a purely geometrical theory of algebraic plane curves"'' gained the 1886 prize of the Berlin Royal Academy. In 1901, he published his report on ''"The development of synthetic geometry from Monge to Staudt (1847)"''; it had been sent to the press as early as 1897, but completion was deferred by Kötter's appointment to Aachen University and a subsequent persisting illness. Kim Kötter
Kim Kötter (born 27 July 1982, Losser, Overijssel) is a Dutch director, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Universe Nederland 2002, and competed in the Miss Universe 2002 pageant where she placed 11th in the preliminaries, missing the top 10 by one spot. She also competed in the Miss Europe 2002 pageant where she placed 3rd runner up. Kötter currently runs her own modelling agency, and is the organizer of the Miss Overijssel, Miss Nederland and Miss Universe Germany beauty pageants. In 2011, Kötter competed on the Dutch version of the television show Fort Boyard. Klaus Kotter
Klaus Kotter (27 May 1934 – 13 May 2010) was a West German-German tax consultant who served as the third president of the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT – International Bobsleigh and Tobogganing Federation), serving as interim from 1978 to 1980, then as president from 1980 to 1994. Born in Prien am Chiemsee, Kotter became treasurer of the West German Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federation (BSD, German since 1990 reunification). By the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, he was Olympic attache for the West German Olympic Committee, the same year he was elected Vice President of the FIBT. In 1978, he was named interim FIBT President following the ill health of then-president Almicare Rotta on Italy. Kotter was elected president in 1980, serving until 1994. ''Welcome Back, Kotter'' is an American sitcom starring Gabe Kaplan as a high-school teacher in charge of a racially and ethnically diverse remedial education class called the "Sweathogs."
