Korňa
Korňa ( hu, Kornyavölgy) is a village and municipality in Čadca District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia. Geography Scenic village is situated in Beskydy Mountains, closely town Turzovka, location 18°32′10″ E, 48°24′42″ N, elevation above sea-level 559 m (community centre). It lies very near to Czech and Polish borderlines. Nearby communities are villages of Klokočov and . Climate Climate is typical for this mountainous terrain—relatively cool with large annual rainfall. Ultra high snowfalls in the winter of 2005/2006 cut off this village from the rest of the country and actually required military help to dig out its inhabitants—a fact still deeply engraved in the memory of many citizens. Čadca District
Čadca District (''okres Čadca'') is a district in the Žilina Region of northern central Slovakia, in the Kysuce region. It had been established in 1923 and the current borders exist from 1996. Forest covers 58% of the district area. It is one of the populous Slovak district, population density is above Slovak average. Economy basis is performed by engineering, metal and wood processing industry. In the district are several winter and skiing resorts, foremost Oščadnica and Makov. Žilina Region
The Žilina Region ( sk, Žilinský kraj; pl, Kraj żyliński; hu, Zsolnai kerület) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions and consists of 11 districts ( okresy) and 315 municipalities, from which 18 have a town status. The region was established in 1923, however, in its present borders exists from 1996. It is a more industrial region with several large towns. Žilina is the region administrative center and there is a strong cultural environment in Martin. Okres Cadca
Okres (Czech and Slovak term meaning "district" in English; from German Kreis - circle (or perimeter)) refers to administrative entities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is similar to Landkreis in Germany or "''okrug''" in other Slavic-speaking countries. The first districts in the Czech lands developed from domains in 1850 by the decision of the Imperial government of Austria. In the territory of present-day Slovakia their predecessors were districts of the counties of the Kingdom of Hungary ''(slúžnovský okres'' in Slovak). The organisation and functions of the districts were different in the Czech lands and Hungary. Turzovka ( hu, Turzófalva) is a town in the Čadca District, Žilina Region in north-western Slovakia. History The present-day town was established in 1598 by a palatine of the Thurzó family. It gained town status in 1968. This town became well known by the Marian apparitions reported by Matúš Lašut between 1958 and 1962.
