Halyna Korin
Halyna (Anna) Ivanivna Korin (Галина (Анна) Іванівна Корінь) was a bandura player, singer (soprano), and writer born May 12, 1926, in Klymivka (Poltava Oblast), Ukraine. She emigrated to Germany in 1944 and then Australia in 1949. Korin died on March 1, 2014, in Melbourne. Biography Halyna (Anna) Korin's parents were Iwan (1903–1981) and Paraska Glouchowera (born 1898) and she was raised with two siblings. From 1939 to 1943 Korin worked at the Krasnograd City Theater in the Kharkiv region until she emigrated to Germany in 1944. While there, she married orchestra leader, Stefan Ivanovych Korin (1914–2007) in October 1948. Korin emigrated to Adelaide, Australia in 1949 with Stefan, their families, and members of the Tchaika Choir. From 1951 the Korin family lived in Melbourne where Stefan restarted their choir, with Korin as soprano. Ogata Kōrin
Ogata Kōrin ( ja, 尾形光琳; 1658 – June 2, 1716) was a Japanese landscape illustrator, lacquerer, painter, and textile designer of the Rinpa School. Kōrin is best known for his ''byōbu'' folding screens, such as '' Irises'' and '' Red and White Plum Blossoms'' (both registered National Treasures), and his paintings on ceramics and lacquerware produced by his brother Kenzan (1663–1743). Also a prolific designer, he worked with a variety of decorative and practical objects, such as round fans, ''makie'' writing boxes or ''inrō'' medicine cases. He is also credited with reviving and consolidating the Rinpa school of Japanese painting, fifty years after its foundation by Hon'ami Kōetsu (1558–1637) and Tawaraya Sōtatsu (c. 1570 – c. 1640). Pavel Dmitriyevich Korin (russian: Павел Дмитриевич Корин; - 22 November 1967) was a Russian painter and art restorer. He is famous for his preparational work for the unimplemented painting ''Farewell to Rus''. Life and career Pavel Korin was born in the village of Palekh (now in Ivanovo Oblast) to a family of a professional icon-painter Dmitry Nikolayevich Korin. In 1897, when Pavel was only five years old, his father died. In 1903-1907, he studied at the ''School for Icon Painting'' at Palekh getting a formal certificate as a professional icon-painter. In 1908, he moved to Moscow and until 1911 worked there at the icon shop of the Don Monastery.
